Here’s what you need to know about unlocking weapon and armor upgrades so you’ll stand a better chance on the battlefield.

How to Unlock Weapon and Armor Upgrades

Like most systems in Chaos Gate, weapon upgrades aren’t properly introduced until a good few hours in. Specifically, you’ll need to complete the first “Nexus” mission, which is where the systems really start to open up. Until that point, focus on improving other aspects of your team, like getting more requisition and leveling up knights.

Once you’ve reached that point in the story, you’ll unlock more research options. The one you want is “Purity Seals.” Select the mission and wait the required number of days. You’ll then have the option to upgrade your weapons and armor by using Bloom Seeds. Boom Seeds are the seeds you get as mission rewards, and the ones you harvest from enemies and various spots on each map.

To actually upgrade weapons and armor:

  • Go to the barracks.
  • Click on the knight you want.
  • Open the loadout menu.

From there, click on either weapon or armor. Once you bring up that menu, you’ll see a variety of upgrades you can apply to each. Keep in mind, of course, that the precious seeds you have can also be used for a variety of others tasks, like more research, so you’ll want to use what you have wisely.

And that’s how you upgrade weapons and armor for your Knights. Make sure to check out our Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters hub for even more tips and help.
