What is the Fortnite Yellow Circle Chapter 5 Season 1? Explained

Chapter 5 Season 1 has brought with it a unique new map and mechanics to discover. With Fortnite OG back in the vault, we’ve been transported to a new Island with fresh features. It won’t take long for you to discover a new Yellow Circle on your map during the match. See the picture I took at the top of this article to see what they look like. But what do they mean?

  • The Yellow Circles are players holding a Fortnite Society Medallion.

What do Society Medallions do in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1?

There are five total medallions you can find throughout the map, and all medallions will automatically replenish your shield at 1 per second per shield. Additionally, collecting shields will stack the buff, so you can receive up to 5 shield per second if you have all 5 Shield Medallions.

Receiving a shield medallion will give you a huge advantage throughout the match, though not without consequence. Once you pick up the medallion, it will permanently attach itself to you for the duration of the match and your location will be revealed as a Yellow Circle on all other player’s maps. And since Medallions can only be dropped by eliminated players, you’ll definitely have a target on your back.

All Fortnite Medallions are dropped by the new map’s big bosses — that is until another player gets to them first. You’ll find the big bosses scattered throughout the major POIs. Here’s where you can find them.

  • Reckless Railways
  • Lavish Lair
  • Grand Glacier
  • Fencing Fields
  • Snooty Steppes
