Microtrip is a game originally released for iOS, but was recently brought to Android. You play as a microscopic blob falling through some sort of organism, eating white cells and avoiding viruses with the goal of getting the high score. At first the game feels pretty simple, but as time goes on you begin to travel faster, and more viruses show up to wreck your party.
The art style is the most appealing aspect of this game.
With its bright colors, cheerful looking characters, mesmerizing music, and squishy physics, it is easy to become hypnotized and it’s a good thing too, since you’re likely to keep trying over and over to beat your previous score.
The controls are quick to pick up.
Tilt controls are enabled by default, which makes sense as you can tilt your device to control your character as it falls. However, this can make controlling your blob difficult in some tight spots – like when you are just trying to navigate around an enemy. Luckily they included touch controls where you can tap in the direction you want your blob to move. This changed the game dramatically as it is much easier to control with this method.
Free, and worth it.
In the end this is a very polished game that is worth the download if you are looking for a game that you can pick up, play for a few minutes, then put down. It does have a few ads between games, but never any that interrupt actual gameplay. It’s a small price to pay, but if that is what makes the game free, then it’s worth the price.
