Five gaming Minecraft recreations that are beyond detailed

1 of 6

Letting people share their Minecraft creations and builds was probably the smartest thing Mojang could have done. It's even better for us when people devote a crazy amount of time and effort into meticulously recreating their favorite content from other games/books/movies/etc., and then share it with us!

If you haven't explored a Minecraft version of something you love (like Zelda, perhaps?) try it out! It's always a surreal experience, and you'd be surprised how accurate Minecraft can be.

If you need more convincing, check out these five fan recreations that paid attention to every little detail!

World of Warcraft's Azeroth

This gigantic Minecraft recreation of World of Warcraft's Azeroth, made by Rumsey, comes in at a massive 6.8 gigabyte file size.

It has a good reason for being almost 7 gigabytes, though -- it's as close to a 1:1 Azeroth we'll ever get in Minecraft. It's remarkable to see the accuracy of detail in the locations, buildings, and pretty much everywhere else.

This kind of accuracy was achieved using custom developed software but it's still impressive -- these screen shots almost look identical!

Final Fantasy 7 Midgar City

Midgar, the capital city and seat of the Shinra corporation. This is one of those places that's nice to live if you're in the 1%. Oh and you're okay with destroying the planet or whatever.

Killerx20 rebuilt one of Final Fantasy's most memorable cities, complete with energy-sucking mako reactors. There's even a functioning railway system that connects all the sectors!

Zelda Ocarina of Time, Hyrule

Zelda and Minecraft both share some similarities, so a Hyrule recreation only makes sense!

This one's got it all, from Lon Lon Ranch to Kakariko, from Gereudo Valley to Lake Hylia. If there's somewhere you want to visit from Ocarina of Time, you can.

Hey, you could always tame a horse and name it Epona! Minecraft and Zelda seem like a pretty good match.

Pokémon Kanto region

A Pokémon game where you could build things with the help of Pokémon would be awesome!

Until we get that, we'll have to make do with this incredibly well done Kanto map that has all of the cities, routes, and pretty much everything you'd expect to see in the original Pokémon games.

Banjo Kazooie

This Banjo Kazooie recreation has been in the works for some time, and it's easy to see why. Banjo Kazooie's world was huge, and recreating it seamlessly in Minecraft is a big task.

Lucky for us -- it's almost finished, because it looks amazing. The project includes all of the different and unique worlds from Banjo Kazooie and is so accurate it hurts.

It makes me wish we got Banjo 3. Oh well, fingers crossed for Yooka-Laylee!
