Remembering the 360: The Must-Have Xbox Exclusives

1 of 12

Today is a huge moment for all of us.

Microsoft just announced their plans to retire the Xbox 360. As of now, support for Xbox Live services and servers will continue, but the production of additional console units will come to a permanent stop.

It's a bit sad. Last November marked the console's ten year anniversary, and since it was released, it has had a huge impact on gamers everywhere. As a tribute to the console's long and enduring legacy, I have compiled a list of the top Xbox exclusives that I have personally enjoyed. The list will be composed of some of the best games the console has to offer.

So, if you're looking to pick up an Xbox 360 while supplies last, consider the following titles your "top priority" to play on it.

End of an era for sure. Spent a whole lot of hours playing Geometry Wars, Rock Band, and Gears Of War with friends and family. Had a ton of fun co-oping FEAR 3 and Left 4 Dead as well.

Oh man, FEAR 3 was pretty much a co-op only game. It was so fun.

    1. Jade Empire was an Original Xbox and PC exclusive. It was playable on 360's with backwards compatibility, but it was released in 2005, whereas the Xbox 360 released in 2006.

    2. Castle Crashers stopped being a 360 exclusive years ago.

    3. Halo 3, ODST, and 4 are all ported to Xbox One, so they're not really exclusives anymore. The only standout Halo titles that are genuinely exclusive (at least for now) are Halo: Reach and Halo Wars.

    4. Forza Horizon 2 is a cross-gen release between Xbox One and 360, and the 360 version had support dropped for it not too long after release. I'll grant you that the first Horizon title is a must play on 360, but Horizon 2 is not.

Overall, not a bad list, but in need of a little tweaking.

Yeah you got me there. A lot of these titles stopped being exclusives a while ago. I felt that these titles still deserved a spot in the list. But nonetheless, you're right.

Ahhhh it's fine! With Xbox One backward compatibility... We can throw out the old cruddy 360s and play on our shiny VHS players!

Unless you want to play a multi-disc game...

Or play Halo: Reach at a stable frame rate...

Or play the not popular but still fun 360 games like Wet, that are unlikely to get backwards compatibility support...

I thought the Xbox One supported 360 disks?

Reach runs fine for me, and yes, ok I do want to play Wet again... But SHHH! I was being over dramatic! ;)

So loved Fable 1 and 2. Keep hoping they will somehow revive this series back to where it used to be. A remaster like 363 did for Halo would be nice.

Fable 1 and 2 were both great games.

A lot of people seem to dislike Fable 3, but I thought it was decent. It wasn't as bad as it was made out to be. But you're right, if they can somehow find a way to revive the series, maybe even just remaster it, that would be great.
