The Witcher 3 DRM Free

The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt will be DRM-less according to CD Projekt RED's boss-man.

So you hate DRM – or perhaps just the concept of DRM. It can be a pretty suffocating concept that is equal to a volatile racial slur in the eyes of many gamers. Fortunately – CD Projekt RED has announced that The Witcher 3 will have “absolutely no DRM.”

According to Marcin Iwinski, CD Projekt RED’s head honcho, there were some worries after the announcement of The Witcher 3’s distribution. As any leader would, he took to the official Witcher blog to clear up the confusion:

The PC version of The Witcher 3 will have absolutely no DRM from day 0. Zero. Zip. Nada. It doesn’t matter if you choose to buy it on GOG.com and support us directly or buy the game in box format, you’ll still get the 100% DRM-free experience. And this goes for the whole world.

In an update, Iwinski clarifies that whether you buy The Witcher 3 on Steam, GOG.com or some other retailer, there will still be no DRM and CD Projekt has zero control over where you buy it.

Sure, this may increase the amount of games pirated, but seeing as The Witcher series has sold just fine, I don’t think the fellows at CD Projekt are especially worried about it.
