Telltale Games Partner With Marvel

Marvel and Telltale Games are partnering up to make a game in 2017

Yes, you read that correctly, Marvel Entertainment have struck a deal with Telltale Games.

Telltale will produce a console and PC game based on a yet-unknown Marvel property to be released in 2017. Details are scarce - the partnership was just announced today - but Executive Producer Jones said "We've been busy. It takes a long time to find the right partner. We have one special game we're excited about."

So only one game has been mentioned thus far but it's safe to assume there could be more if it's a success. Telltale have cited "authenticity" as a primary goal for the game, along with finding the "right hero" with the "right powers." It's difficult to say which character Telltale could adopt, and whether or not it will be one we've seen in the Marvel Universe already, be it in movies or Netflix.

However, Marvel has a deep well of great characters that could be used in one of Telltale's episodic adventures. Maybe we'll finally get that Howard the Duck game.

What a world we live in.

This has me worried. Not sure Telltale's approach really fits anyone in the Marvel universe, except maybe Moon Knight. That could be interesting, but no one ever shows him love.

The problem with Telltale making a game based on superheroes is how they handle action. I do not want to watch battles between super-powered individuals pan out as QTEs. I want direct control of said hero in these epic confrontations.

I think a telltale game about spiderman would be interesting. Exploring his relationship with Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy among other problems that spiderman has.

Okay, could we just have Telltale stick to making some follow-up seasons to the series we enjoy? After GOT being so boring and underwhelming, I'm beginning to worry they are taking on too much. There are so many balls in the air for Telltale, while I'd be happy with a second season for Tales from the Borderlands & TWAU, and a third season for The Walking Dead.
