Infinity Ward Creates Online Code of Conduct for CoD: Ghosts

Infinity Ward is taking a stand to boosters, hackers, and pirates by creating an online code of conduct for CoD: Ghosts.

With a profusion of hackers, boosters, and cheaters in Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer, Infinity Ward is taking a stand by creating an online code of conduct for all CoD: Ghosts players. Not only are there certain rules, but there are penalties if they are not followed as well. Here's a list describing each offense to the code of conduct and their penalties.

Definition of commonly used terms:

Temporary Ban – A ban that can range from 48 hours to 2 weeks, depending on the severity of the infraction.

Permanent Ban – Bans that are lasting and final.

Minor Offense – An offense in which no quantifiable damage has been done to another user or the game community at large.

Extreme Offense – An offense in which a player has caused detriment to other users or has organized large groups of users to commit additional offenses.

Modding / Hacking – Any user who runs a modified version of game code or uses a modified game profile is subject to penalty.

First Offense: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.

  • Console users who modify their hardware or profile data will also be reported to console manufacturers.
  • PC users on Steam will be reported to the Steam enforcement team.

Pirated Content – Any user who illegally acquires Call of Duty: Ghosts content is subject to penalty.

First Offense: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.

  • Console users in possession of illegally acquired content will also be reported to console manufacturers.
  • PC users on Steam will be reported to the Steam enforcement team.

Boosting – Any user who colludes with another user to exploit the game for the purpose of gaining XP, prestige, game score, weapon level, or in-game unlock is subject to penalty.

First Offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats reset, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.

Multiple Offenses: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats reset, will have online split-screen privileges revoked, will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards, and will lose the ability to use prestige token/unlocks.

Glitching – Any user who abuses an exploit in game code or other established rule of play is subject to penalty. An example includes but is not limited to using a hole in the map geo to intentionally go outside of the map boundary.

First Offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats reset, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.

Multiple Offenses: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats reset, will have online split-screen privileges revoked, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.

Offensive Behavior – Any user who is found to use aggressive, offensive, derogatory or racially charged language is subject to penalty.

First Offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online.

Multiple Offenses: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats reset, will have online split-screen privileges revoked, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.

Thank god I'm ready to never play it again at this point it's ridiculous not even fun anymore no problems with black ops 2 ghost is a complete and uter joke
  • MonkeyEyes51
It won't help cause they will make another profile and do it again
  • kadian78
how a bout the make a new engine or use abetter existing engine to get rid of hackers instead of the same one they've been using every game they make
  • almac64
There are still so many hackers on MWII , I cannot find where the legitimate scores start. I wish they'd clear the hack scores, and patch the game so it can't be hacked.

Im glad they will ban hackers..
But the problem is.,. it seems i got a perma ban while i done nothing wrong.
Ive read hundreds of people claiming the same.. and i know people might not believe me but i invite Infinity to come to my house and check everything.. i dont even know how to hack i bought this game because im sick at home alot so i played every day to unlock stuff and i spended ALOT of months savings to get it .. since it costed 200 euro to have it all together the maps.
on the forums they seem to ignore the hundreds of posts or just try to rip of by saying its ur own fault.. but how can it by my faulth if i dont nothing against the rules?

i hope this bug will be fixed soon so that only real hackers will get banned and not innoncent players.

Exploiting a glitch first offense is a full reset? That is so stupid...

I'm a Battlefield man, but kudos to Infinity Ward for stepping it up and taking action.

This is wrong because i play without hacks, I don't glitch i do nothing i play by the objective always positive by 12-16 kills and i was playing with my friend one minute u turn off my xbox 360 and then like an hour turn it on again and i was banned for 14 days on the game and then i went to the dashboard got the disconnected from xbox live and the my account got banned for 14 days for ''inappropriate gameplay, cheating, and/or system abuse'' this is the first CoD game i play good the for playing good i got banned. this is why i think its bad.

I actually ran across someone who claimed to be an employee of Infinity Ward on COD Ghosts last week by the screen name of FriedSwag. He was talking to another player on the same team as I was (I was dropped into the middle of the match.) FriedSwag I guess caught the other player boosting, but made him promise to quit boosting and never do it again. FriedSwag gave him 5 minutes to apologize and he did. After that match FriedSwag left the lobby.

The burning question I have is what proof did FriedSwag show or do to prove his legitamite employment with Infinity Ward? Has anyone else ran across the user Fried Swag?

THEY WOULD BE SMART IF THEY SIMPLY WENT TO THE LEADER BOARDS AND JUST START WIPING ALL THE ACCOUNTS ON THE TOP!!! THEY ALL HACK AND NEITHER INFINITY WARD NOR TREYARCH EVER TAKE THEM DOWN!!! HOW DUMB ARE THEY!!!???
  • dakers
This is a joke...they have allowed this game to be hacked and now it is so far out of control they will NEVER recover the game!
  • Steeldawg2
The code of conduct might work really well if you guys will actually start using it.I see the same cheaters ,boosters and hackers every day. This coduct is really getting old. I've had to put up with this through the whole c.o.d franchise. Thanks for reading .

I'm sorry to say but this been going on since Mw2 & Now Ghost? today i seen two hackers with the wall-hack & he has unlimited UAV, Now infinite ward, how long is it going to take for you to really step it up? & ppl with jail broken PS3 system.. all they need to do is by a new ip address & they're ready to fk sh!!T Up AGAIN. I feel bad for infinite ward. atless i didn't run into hackers on black ops 2 and its been 1yr & a half & no hackers in any lobby! How SAD!
  • BANGxBANGx808
    Just get rid of hackers/boosters/cheaters/etc.
But for the trash talking it's all part of the hen game and people will always say bad things or even great things, only in a perfect world all this idea would be applied because if you do start banning people for trash talking etc. a major decrease in sales on the next cod or blk ops will happen n you don't want that do you? I know I wouldn't unless I'm happy with all the wealth I have already made from these games but sad to say greed is ruling this world God bless the players not the cheaters lol
  • Bilbo_7882
Here's what I read; instead of being competent enough to develop a balanced game and remaining diligent I our paying fans by actively patching out all known glitches and exploits, we will revoke your ability to play what you paid for instead. More so, well even ban racists, in media only whites are racist, I wonder if they'll follow this politically correct means of white persecution by banning us all for being inherently evil. Call of duty has become an atrocious joke from what it was in its early days, and this feeble attempt marks their way of saying "oh crap, people aren't buying anymore"
  • Spyke_3447
    I... I don't get it...

Was this not the case before? lol; this just seems like they're coming out and stating:

"yes, due to a lack of clarification in official COD documentation, we are proud to announce that we have officially stated we ARE a FPS game"

    S'like, no sheet sherlock...

This doesn't really apply to me. I usually stick to co op/horde mode games. Probably due to the issues that they're fixing. :)

Good read. What are your thoughts on it Caden?

Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I personally think that it will help the CoD community, by getting rid of hackers, boosters, etc. Maybe I'll put my opinion in there like you said.

But... it's just not Call of Duty unless you have a bunch of pre-teens shouting racist obscenities at you while flying through the air raining unlimited grenades down on everyone.

That's true. It's so bad now that I've just learned to accept it and let it be. I do want them gone though. I do believe that those types of people are labeled 'Squeakers".

This is an excellent code of ethics from Infinity Ward. I just hope they follow through with these punishments to, at the very least, diminish the amount of hackers, boosters, etc..

If you make it inconvenient for people to cheat, they won't cheat because people are lazy.
  • Caden Moniz

Exactly. They better stick with this plan, because I really think that it will make some changes needed to the CoD community.
  • kettle84
and if that dosnt work. then maybe its about time you used gamer moderators, with ban privileges or if that cant be trusted. then give moderators a level 2 report button
