The Classic SNES game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars just arrived for the Wii U Virtual Console in North America today. This information was first spotted yesterday on Nintendo’s website. Super Mario RPG will launch at the price of $7.99.
This game coming to the Wii U virtual console is no surprise; it was previously released for the Wii Virtual Console back in 2008, and for the Wii U Virtual Console around the world last year. It is unknown what caused such a major delay for a North American release.
The synopsis for the game, as stated on Nintendo’s website reads:
“A mysterious enemy named Smithy has appeared, forcing Mario and Bowser to fight as allies. Journey across a wide variety of locations and tackle a mixture of obstacles that will require both timing and strategy to overcome. Gain experience, grow more powerful, and meet new characters to use their abilities in taking down Smithy and his gang!”
Super Mario RPG has a legacy of being a great game, evidenced by a popular character from, Geno, being released as a downloadable Mii skin for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U — as we all know, only great characters make their way to Smash Bros.
