Super Smash Bros Wii U Will Be Playable with GameCube Controllers

Get your Smash Bros fight on the good old fashion way with this GameCube controler adapter for Wii U

Earlier on this week it was announced there would be an officially licensed Wii U fight stick controller.

Nintendo of America confirmed via Twitter that Super Smash Bros on the Wii U will be playable with the beloved GameCube controller. Judging from the image provided, it looks as though the GameCube controller will plug into the Wii U using an extension block. Super Smash Bros Wii U is due for release this winter.

Assuming you will have to buy this adapter, will you pick this up? Are you excited to play  Super Smash Bros. on Wii U with a GameCube controller? Or will you stick with the Wii U Pro controller?

Could this lead to other GameCube related announcements on the Wii U? Personally, I hope to see a GameCube Virtual Console announced, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part.

This basically confirms that Nintendo wants Smash Brothers to be a regular tournament fighter. I can't wait to take that adapter for a spin.
