Star Citizen Reaches $14 Million Dollar Goal!

Star Citizen, Largest Crowd-Funded Game Ever

Star Citizen, the most massive crowd-funded video game project of all time, has reached its $14 million dollar goal. The space-simulator by Chris Roberts (who developed the classic simulator series Wing Commander) shows that sims and PC gaming aren’t fading in a console dominated world. The project had reached $13 million last week, rising to $14 million only two days ago. This latest rise in funding is going to allow a “hibernation” feature that will allow players to shut down their spacecraft in deep space and return to the universe later. The $14 million dollar funding will also provide for a documentary that will give fans an intimate look inside the development of the game.

Since reaching the $14 million dollar goal, Cloud Imperium Games has announced that at $15 million, an additional ship class will be included, as well as a 42-page handbook on how players can customize their ships. At $16 million, there will be an Arena mode that takes elements from Wing Commander’s TrainSim to allow pilots to test their skills in battle against other players.

As each month goes by, it seems that Star Citizen keeps getting more and more detailed after over than a year in development. Chris Roberts’ creation has the potential to greatly change the state of current gaming and bring an ideal balance between multiplayer and singleplayer which has never seen before.
