McCree to be nerfed, D.Va to be buffed in Overwatch

Your favorite hero may be getting nerfed in Overwatch. Blizzard Principal Designer Geoff Goodman has confirmed tweaks are coming to some characters.

It was only a matter of time before adjustments were made to Blizzard's new hero shooter, Overwatch. That time seems to have come -- and Reaper and McCree are in the crosshairs. Responding to fan comments in the Overwatch forums, Blizzard Principal Designer Geoff Goodman stated that they are looking to nerf McCree while also bringing some changes to Reaper.

More specifically, McCree will have his stun and fan move tweaked so that it is not as dominant as it currently is. As for Reaper, the tweak isn’t exactly a nerf but a color scheme change. When Reaper teleports to a certain area, the smoke surrounding him is always red. This can cause some confusion, along with mild heart attacks to fellow teammates. Now, if you have a Reaper on your team and he teleports, his smoke will be blue. If it is red, then run.

Goodman admitted that D.Va is a slightly underpowered tank and that the team at Blizzard will look to make her a more aggressive tank instead of a bullet sponge. Other tweaks mentioned for the game were based on the highlights feature, along with the plays of the game.

Overwatch is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Have a problem with the upcoming tweaks to the game? Leave a comment in the comments section below and head on over to the Overwatch forums to let your opinion be heard.

    D.Va a qt.

I have definitely experienced that heart attack on seeing a Reaper and not knowing if they're on my team or not.

Pretty excited about D.Va buffs. She's probably my favorite/best character so far and having her be able to take a few more hits will be nice.

Misleading title is misleading. Reaper's change is not a nerf in the slightest. People were already shooting red smoke before so letting your teammates know that it's not an enemy is probably more of a buff than a nerf, or at least as much of a buff as it is a nerf.

Changed the title and tweaked some info just for you because you are correct, it is not a nerf to Reaper. Not necessarily a buff but certainly not a nerf.

As a Reaper main I gotta say this headline really terrified me, but this change to him actually seems for the best!

Yea this is definitely for the best. I could see them somewhat nerfing his shotguns but I think he is pretty level with the other heroes.

I always thought he was incredibly balanced, in that he takes pretty great risks having to fight up close with his shotguns. Even in a 1v1 against another assault hero, you have to be pretty damn accurate with his guns to win. Unlike McCree, who can insta-win against pretty much anyone 1v1 with pretty much no risk.
