In celebration of the Metal Gear series 25th anniversary, Konami has released the Metal Gear Art Studio to those of you with an urge to draw something in the style of series lead artist Yoji Shinkawa. The site provides digital but identical tools to those Shinkawa uses to draw his brush-style concepts for the series.
The Metal Gear Art Studio site does require that you log in via a social network if you choose to draw, but you can choose to browse without linking an account with the site.
Contest
Shinkawa will be choosing his favorites out of specified themes over the coming months, and surprise “guest artists” will be gracing the site with their presence over the duration. Contest winners will receive an exclusive Metal Gear Art Studio prize. The themes for each contest and their dates are as follows:
- February 18 through 24: Raiden
- February 25 through March 17: Mechs and Vehicles
- March 18 through April 7: Snake
- April 8 through 28: Female characters
- April 29 through May 12: Male characters
