From April 13 through April 16, Roberts Space Industries is letting all prospective Star Citizens strap into the game for absolutely free. Here's what you need to know.

Attention all prospective Star Citizens: Cloud Imperium Games invites you to join the galaxy’s largest persistent universe for a free-fly weekend April 13-16. All pilots will have access to hangers replete with a selection of new and old ships alike — all of which can be flown for free during the 72-hour event. On top of that, other planet-side vehicles, such as the dune-buggy-esque Cyclone, will be available for testing as well.

To access the Star Citizen‘s free-fly event, simply navigate to the game’s enlistment page, and use the promo code: GETINTOTHEVERSE in the validation field found at the bottom of this page (now expired). You will also need to download Star Citizen if you have not already done so. 

If prospective pilots want to continue their journey through the world of Star Citizen after the free-fly weekend concludes, Cloud Imperium Games will be offering discounted Starter Packs for any that choose to enlist.

Currently, Star Citizen is still in active development. The most recent 3.2.1 update featured a bevy of additions and fixes for the game, including the character customizer, new ships and vehicles, and updates to cargo and trading. As of this writing, Star Citizen has raised more than $182 million since development began in 2011. It is one of the most anticipated sci-fi games of all time.
