Overwatch fans can cross their fingers for the chance to get selected for the next wave of beta invites; however, these ones are only temporary

Big news for Overwatch fans! Blizzard Entertainment has just announced over Twitter that Overwatch will be receiving its first beta test weekend this Friday, November 20th. Since the objective of this weekend’s beta is to test Overwatch‘s server hardware and technology, Blizzard will be sending out a massive wave of invites to players. However, these beta test invites will expire on Monday, November 23rd at 9:00 a.m.

Remember, getting a beta test weekend invite does not guarantee getting another invite down the road. If you get an invite, you had best make use of it!

According to the official Overwatch blog, invites will be sent out during scheduled maintenance on Thursday, November 19th. Once received, players can install the game immediately to prepare for the weekend. The invite will be sent directly to your registered Battle.net e-mail address; however, you should see the install button appear on your Battle.net client before then – as Blizzard admits the messages are somewhat slower in delivery.

During the beta test weekend, it should be noted that the map rotation will be limited. According to the blog post only Hanamura, King’s Row, and Watchpoint: Gibraltar will be available for play. This is likely due to these maps having specific latency objectives, or Blizzard wants to give the best impressions of the game.
