Destiny: Making A Video Game Has Never Been Cheap

Destiny, the most expensive video game in history.

It was reported recently that Destiny is going to have a budget of $500 million, which will cover promotion, development and other expenses to make the game a reality.

This budget alone makes Destiny the most expensive video game ever made, by a studio budget standpoint.

The studio behind Destiny has a ten-year deal with Activision, so the budget decision is understandable. No matter the reason for the cost, it is still hard to fathom the budget of this video game. One factor that might cause worry for both studios is the possible flop.

A flop would be a crucial blow for both companies. Regardless of the possible flop, Destiny seems more promising as we receive more footage. Bob Kotick believes that this is a huge gamble, as he has never had a budget for a video game this high.

Destiny is a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter, set in a mythical, science-fiction open world produced by Activision, and developed by Halo creator, Bungie.

Destiny is being developed for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and next-gen consoles set to release on September, 9, 2014. Will Destiny flop or will it be successful? Be sure to leave a comment below with your thoughts and whether you are excited or not.

I don't know about anyone else, but my friends and I are all in agreement. It looks like Halo meets Borderlands. Both of those games are, between us, our most played multiplayer games together. We have lan parties to play them, way more than any other games. If this idea holds true, that it's Halo meets Borderlands, we'll be playing this for a long long time.

I loved both Halo and Borderlands, so I think this could actually be one of the games I may never put down. I also like that the game has not been hyped so much as a lot of games with intense hype seem to not do so well. What I can leave with, is with next gen, my wallet is going to be rather empty for the most part.
