The title of Commander of the British Empire was given to the life president of Eidos in recognition for services to the Computer Gaming Industry.

Ian Livingstone CBE has played a pivotal role in the UK hobby and games industry since the 1980s, when, along with Steve Jackson, he co-wrote the Fighting Fantasy book series which inspired a generation. He also co-founded Games Workshop which produced the Warhammer series of games as well as Blood Bowl, Space Hulk and many others.

In 1990, Livingstone founded Eidos, which has since produced popular series such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief and Hitman. Eidos is now part of the Square Enix group.

Livingstone had already been awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2006 and had clearly accrued enough experience points to progress to Commander status. It is unknown how many extra hitpoints he has gained or whether he he is now entitled to his own mount.

It is believed the Queen would require him to seek out Sir Ian ‘Gandalf’ McKellan for access to the epic quest which would ultimately lead to a Knighthood.

Maybe.

After over a decade of humping and dumping the fat and the dead, my lower spine did things normally reserved for Rubik's cubes, bringing my career as a medical clinician to an unexpectedly early end. Fortunately, my real passion is in writing and given that I'm now highly qualified in the art of sitting down, I have the time to pursue it.
