ESL One New York Will Feature A $75,000 Street Fighter V Tournament

ESL One's Street Fighter V tournament in October to have a prize pool of $75,000.

ESL One, one of the premier esports events in North America, will be including a $75,000 Street Fighter V tournament, titled "The Brooklyn Beatdown", during their upcoming event at Barclays Center in New York City. The event will be taking place from October 1-2 and will feature a prize pool of $250,000 overall.

The Brooklyn Beatdown will be an open bracket tournament with enough room for 1,024 players. In order to qualify players will have to compete in a series of online tournaments which will be happening during the lead-up to the event. Prizes for top contenders will include help with flight and hotel costs, which is a big plus for Street Fighter players all around the world.

It will be interesting to see Street Fighter V being played and streamed alongside already popular esports titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and DOTA. Street Fighter V entering the world of esports has been a topic of discussion in the fighting game community for a long time, and the professionalism of esports events have often been a point of concern for many FGC members, as fighting game tournaments tend to be much less rigid when it comes to the conduct of onlookers and how the events are streamed.

If you're interested in registering for The Brooklyn Beatdown you can check out their page on Eventbrite. Registration costs $10 and players will still have to pay $10 in order to enter the venue. You can also check out the official site for The Brooklyn Beatdown for more info on the tournament.

Instead of spending time with a bunch of teenager eco-wizards, Captynplanet likes to read, hang out with his roomate's cats, and of course, play video games. Captynplanet is just getting out of a long term gamelationship with League of Legends and is having a hard time adjusting to life without the Rift. Captynplanet lives in Richmond, Virginia and is almsot done with his undergrad at Virginia Commonwealth University. Captynplanet is pretty weirded out by referring to himself in the 3rd person.
