Phantasy Star Online has a place in every Dreamcast owner's heart. The Dreamcast is dead (RIP, sweet prince), but Phantasy Star Online 2 on the PC is alive and kicking some serious butt in Japan. The game has more than one million players, and it's coming to Vita for some portable (and free!) adventure.

GameStop's not doing so hot, but although revenue is down overall ($1.95 billion in 2011 down to $1.77 billion in 2012), their sectors outside of physical software sales are actually up from last year. Digital software sales actually went up by 31.8%, and their mobile sector similarly grew. They're making the shift from physical retail now, but will they be able to compete with the big digital distribution platforms like Steam once they're forced to completely go digital? We'll see about that.

Sitting just behind the music category on YouTube is the video game category that we all know and wind up on one way or the other. While the popularity of gaming-related videos may come as a surprise, the increased focus on video-based marketing and fans making their own videos are both big parts of, well.. being a gamer these days.
