What does it take to make it in the gaming industry? There are so many answers one could give a teenager looking to break into the field. Software maker, Valve, is trying to make it easier for teens to seek a career in the gaming field. Valve has introduced Pipeline, a program designed for high school students interested in the gaming industry.
Questions Answered
The first part of Pipeline will give these high school students a place to ask those questions that are heard so often from those desiring entrance into the field, questions such as courses studied and college preparation. Kids will have a place to go and ask questions and learn more about what the gaming industry takes.
What else?
Another part of the experiment known as Pipeline is to see if a company, like Valve, who usually only hires those with competent work histories, to see if these high school age kids are able to be trained to be successful at such companies. Just getting into the industry fresh out of school can be a challenge at these bigger name companies. From the FAQ on the Pipeline page, it seems Valve may be seeking to change their hiring strategy up a bit.
