Trails of Cold Steel 4 Release Date Revealed at New Game+ Expo

Trails of Cold Steel 4 is coming this fall and promises to bring an end to at least some of Erebonia's troubles.

We knew Trails of Cold Steel 4 was coming out sometime this year, and today's New Game+ Expo confirmed the release date. Trails of Cold Steel 4 will launch for PlayStation 4 on October 27.

The announcement came with a brand-new sizzle reel. There are some big spoilers for the excellent Trails of Cold Steel 3 in the reel, so if you haven't finished that yet, don't read on.

The Cold Steel 4 trailer focuses on protagonist Rean Schwarzer immediately after Cold Steel 3 ends. Rean's imprisoned by the Erebonian Chancellor Giliath Osborne and struggles to overcome the as-yet unexplained darkness inside him before he destroys everything he once held dear.

There's a war going on, but in true Cold Steel fashion, the focus is on facing personal challenges as each member of Old and New Class VII tries to figure out their place in the world. Cold Steel 4 probably won't wrap up all the sub-series' plot threads. That's what Hajimari no Kiseki is for.

Following its PlayStation 4 release, Trails of Cold Steel 4 will launch on PC through Steam and Good Old Games, as well as Nintendo Switch sometime in 2021. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Trails of Cold Steel 4 release date news as it develops.

Josh Broadwell started gaming in the early '90s. But it wasn't until 2017 he started writing about them, after finishing two history degrees and deciding a career in academia just wasn't the best way forward. You'll usually find him playing RPGs, strategy games, or platformers, but he's up for almost anything that seems interesting.
