In case you haven’t heard, the NES Classic released today. And nostalgia-driven gamers everywhere flocked to online or retail stores to get it, since there was no option to pre-order. But many of them walked away disappointed and empty-handed, because the system sold out in a mere 5 minutes

After hearing that the NES had already sold out, lots of these would-be buyers took to Twitter to share how heartbroken they were over the fact that they wouldn’t be reliving the glory days of gaming just yet. 

Some of them took it in humorous stride, and others seemed legitimately upset that they’ll have to wait an undisclosed amount of time for the system to go on sale again. And last but not least, this NES fan has a message of hope for all of us, regardless of whether or not you managed to get your hands on the system.

What a time indeed. Although the Classic might be sold out for now, it certainly won’t be forever. Nintendo is known for creating scarcity when it first releases consoles — the same happened with the Wii at launch, and many amiibo releases have seen the same treatment as well. Hopefully more systems will arrive before the holiday season comes to an end.
