Pre-installing Fallout 4? Xbox One owners might have an issue.

Bethesda reaches out to Xbox One owners, warning them to redownload their pre-installed Fallout 4 files.

Last week, Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 4 would be available for pre-loading on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. If you grabbed your early install for Xbox One on or before October 27, you may have downloaded the wrong file.

Bethesda has reached out to Xbox One owners via its official forums, warning them that they may have downloaded a placeholder “stub file” instead of the 28 GB game file. The post offers instructions on how to rectify the issue, which mainly consists of deleting the file and re-downloading the game.

Along with the new post-apocalyptic RPG, those who preorder Fallout 4 on Xbox One will also receive a free download of 2008’s Fallout 3. This Xbox 360 title will be playable on the newer console via its backwards compatibility.

Another expected feature exclusive to the Xbox One will be downloadable mods. User-created modifications such as texture improvements, custom-made weapons, and even Star Wars-themed character skins have long been a critical part of Fallout’s appeal, though only among the PC community. With Fallout 4, however, Xbox One owners will allegedly be able to download these mods onto their consoles.

Fallout 4 comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Tuesday, November 10. For more on this epic post-apocalyptic RPG, keep an eye on GameSkinny!
