God of War PC: Save Location Guide

God of War, previously exclusive to PS4 consoles, is finally available on PC through both Steam and Epic Games. Although the game has an auto-save feature, which saves your game progress without the need to save manually, many players still wish to back-up their save files on PC.

Our guide will show you where exactly is the save location for God of War files on your PC. You will be able to back them up and restore in the case of corrupt save files or file loss due to malfunctions.

Where Are the Save File Locations for God of War PC

God of War Steam Save File Locations

Most Steam users have their games synchronized with Steam cloud service, where they keep all their save files. In this case, all your God of War save files can be found in the following folder:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata

If for some reason, your games are not using the cloud savings at Steam, then it is highly recommended to enable them by following these steps:

  1. Open the Steam app
  2. Go to Steam menu in the top right
  3. Select "Settings" option
  4. Go to "Cloud" tab
  5. Check the "Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization" option
  6. Press "OK" to confirm

In case you've been playing God of War without the Steam cloud service, then your save files can be found in one of the following directories by default:

  • C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\GodOfWar\Saved\SaveGames\
  • C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\GodOfWar\Saved\SaveGames\

Copy the folders with titles that have long strings of digits, and copy them to another folder for preservation.

God of War Epic Games Save File Locations

Just like Steam, Epic Games service also uses the cloud savings to store all the user save files. If your cloud savings are enabled, then you should be able to find God of War save files in the following folder:

  • C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\God of War\Saved\SaveGames\

In case your Epic Games cloud savings are not enabled, you can do it by following these steps:

  1. Start the Epic Games launcher app
  2. Click on your profile icon at the top right corner
  3. Select "Settings" option
  4. Check "Enable Cloud Saves" option

If this option was not enabled, after you've already played God of War for some time, then you can find your save files in one of the following directories:

  • C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\GodOfWar\Saved\
  • C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Saved Games\
