Neverwinter Updates On the Move With Some Major Changes

Neverwinter patch is in the works and it looks huge!

On June 4th, 2013 Neverwinter’s community manager went to the forums and posted a thread about upcoming changes to the game. This is an extremely exciting moment for Neverwinter.  The game still needs a lot of work, and a lot of class balances along with new content to keep people entertained.

The changes that were posted are a massive impact to gameplay; get ready to see changes to damage, mitigation, cooldowns, stacking, power synergies, durations, knockbacks, interrupts, threat, bonuses, and pretty much everything else!  Now let me tell you a little about how the game is working currently.

Personally, I play a Great Weapon Fighter and love the class. But many people feel very differently about this specific class considering that if someone does not put a lot of time and effort into theory crafting, they would have a hard time pushing out the damage required for most epic dungeons.

The leveling process was very simple for me because I had a friend to level with, but a lot of people have said that leveling a GWF from one to thirty is very difficult, most people just say the damage is very low compared to other classes.

One of the biggest problems this game has is threat.

If you don’t know what threat is, it’s the ability to keep the enemy players attention on yourself. Now, Guardian Fighters are a tank class that cannot tank currently, because the class can’t generate enough threat over a Devoted Cleric (Healer) which tends to generate immense amounts of aggro. This is just one of many issues people have run into during the “Open Beta” and from initial looks, this patch is going to be the first big patch that the game has seen.

Developers at Cryptic are definitely listening to what the community has to say and they have been on top of major bugs that have come up. They also mention a little bit about player versus player updates, queuing issues,  and user interface, among other things.

The biggest thing that got my attention was that they said they will still need to collect feedback to ensure that they have met their goals and performed the updates that their players have asked for the most. This is what they’ve focused on from the start of this game. They are making sure to listen to the community and keep everyone filled in with what is going on in the game.

With all this information being released about a new patch, I am very excited to see what changes.  This is (in my opinion) one of the best True Action MMOs that I have seen in a long while.
