Black Ops 3 has Jeff Goldblum and Ron Pearlman killing zombies in the 1940s

As if a full four player co-op campaign wasn't enough, Treyarch throws in a 1940's era zombie shoot out for the ages.

Treyarch is famous for bringing the Zombies mode to Call of Duty. Starting all the way back in World at War, they helped kick off the mass of zombie modes and games that have dominated the gaming landscape for years. So what’s next after Treyarch took players to Alcatraz, Nazis Zombie Germany, and even the Moon? Jeff Goldblum, of course.

Yes, Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Independence Day), Heather Graham (The Hangover), Neal McDonough (Tin Man, Band of Brothers, Agent Carter), and Ron “War… war never changes…” Perlman (Fallout, Hellboy, Teen Titans!) all star in the latest zombie slaying experience. Set in a city of sin and neon lights, each character has some guilt that hangs over them that relates to death. As McDonough’s character points out, it may very well be their past crimes that have come back to haunt them.

While the undead menace is an all to familiar enemy for most gamers, Treyarch looks to shake things up with the setting. There will be gameplay modifiers tossed out by a gumball machine, ranging from a katana sword to turning into a demonic entity like out of The Darkness series. Boss characters will apparently be multi-stage fights with multiple critical points to take down. New gear, such as a charging riot shield, will also be available alongside guns from the time period.

Those who buy Call of Duty: Black Ops 3‘s Season Pass will also get access to the fan favorite map Der Riese from the original zombie mode in Call of Duty; World at War. The new version is called The Giant and is a full redesign, much like Atlas Gorge was for Advanced Warfare.

Even before this reveal, Black Ops 3 looked interesting. Now, fans of the annual franchise have even more to look forward to with this further divergent setting for the Zombies mode. Treyarch is going hail mary with new ideas, here’s hoping it pans out for them when Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 releases November 6th. And if you’re looking forward to the game, be sure to check out the surprisingly practical Collector’s Edition with a mini-fridge (seriously, not a joke).
