The date was obtained from Polygon, who reported that the game will come with an exclusive pre-order bonus with the character Goro.

NetherRealm Studios’ fighting game Mortal Kombat X will be released Apr. 14, 2015 in North America, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today. The game will see the return of the four-armed warrior Goro, who’s being restricted to pre-orders as an exclusive character.

Mortal Kombat X is officially pronounced as “ex” as explained by Ed Boon, the series director. The game will be mainly developed and released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC by NetherRealm Studios and it will be shown in 1080p resolution and run at 60 FPS. There will be a port to PS3 and Xbox 360 from a different third-party company that has yet to be announced.

The game will be similar to other Mortal Kombat games, especially the latest installment after the series was acquired by Warner Bros. from now-defunct publisher Midway. Fatalities are expected to be more gruesome, the X-Ray system will be back, the addition of interactive environments will be added like in Injustice: Gods Among Us, and other things will be refined and added.
