Dying Light Hellraid DLC Conjures Hell’s Minions This July

The premium add-on is based on a previously shelved "dark fantasy" Techland project.

Dying Light has seen its fair share of DLC since it launched in 2015. To date, it has received 23 various free and paid add-ons, including the season pass. Soon, it will receive perhaps its most unique DLC yet: Hellraid

Set to release on July 23 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Hellraid transports players to a hellish fortress overrun with the undead and full of brand-new weapons, including swords and maces.

Techland, the game’s developer, said:

Each run through the dungeon will reward you with coins that you can spend to proudly wield Hellraid weapons in Harran. Every time you revisit the fortress, you’ll have a choice to increase the prize by picking up bounties. Whether you choose to test your skills alone or in co-op (up to four people), you’ll face a considerable challenge.

The DLC’s “dark fantasy” setting is a bit different than what Dying Light players might be used to. That’s because the Hellraid DLC is actually content from another Techland project of the same name.

Hellraid was originally intended as a stand-alone game that began life as a mod for Dead Island before morphing into something more fantastical. It was eventually shelved and has sat in development limbo for the last five years.

As of this writing, it’s unclear if Hellraid will ever see release as an independent game, but Dying Light players can get a taste of the project with this latest DLC, which is set to retail for $9.99 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
