Xbox One S: Not just slimmer, but a better performer too

The Xbox One S supports higher resolutions and better game performance.

Microsoft unveiled the new Xbox One S at their E3 press conference yesterday. The console is not only slimmer, but it also has new features which includes HDR (high dynamic range lighting) and 4K resolution.

In an interview by Polygon, it was confirmed that the console will also perform better than the original model. Speaking with Coalition studio's Rob Fegursson, the console was discussed as to how it will improve the Gears of War 4 playing experience. He proceeds to note that the S model has additional raw GPU and CPU power compared to the original. Coalition in turn has been able to take advantages to reduce the frequency of the frame rate dropping during more demanding sequences in the game.

Between the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Project Scorpio, three different playing experiences will eventually become available through. All games will be playable across all models and fans will be able to find the console to match their preferences.

The Xbox One S is scheduled to release in August along with Gears of War 4.
