Trine 4 Announced, Reportedly Out Next Year
Trine fans itching for a new game in the franchise need not worry -- the fourth installment of the magical series is set to arrive sometime next year. The developer behind the series, FrozenByte, is partnering with Modus Games to bring the game to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
This development might surprise some fans of the series because of the lukewarm reception of Trine 3. Even the developers admitted that their eagerness got the better of them with that game.
Despite the odds, though, here we are.
The developers seem to have returned to the series after reevaluating their stance on the franchise. In a press release, FrozenByte CEO, Lauri Hyvärinen, had this to say:
"Trine 4 is going to be the best in the series. We have rekindled our love for the francise, heard and seen fan feedback, and our hearts are set on exceeding those expectations. Trine is back!"
It's always good to see a developer acknowledge their faults when jumping into the sequel to a poorly received game. This way, they can address problems fans had with the previous game and ensure things get handled better.
Beyond these vague details, that's all we have for now. The announcement released today with the message of 'official announcement coming soon' attached to it.
