Just ahead of Nintendo's highly anticipated presentation at E3 2017, a new leak has revealed the next Mario game for the Nintendo Switch -- and it reportedly features the iconic Rabbids from Ubisoft, which spawned almost a dozen of their own games since their inception.

Earlier this week, an image leaked of a Rabbid in a Princess Peach costume. And somehow, got a hold of the full key art for the game, which you can view below:

The publication's sources claim that this upcoming game, called Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, will debut at E3 next month, with a full release planned for August. There's been no official confirmation yet from Nintendo or Ubisoft, so we can't say for certain that this is actually happening. But it does align with rumors that circulated last year about a new Mario game that would feature the Rabbids in some capacity. hasn't been able to give further specifics about Mario+Rabbids, but the site has claimed that the game will feature turn-based battles and co-op play. This will be the first time the Rabbids have made an appearance in a console game since 2014's Rabbids Invasion

We're sure to get more details on this when Nintendo presents its showcase at E3. You can watch the Spotlight stream on June 13th, at 12 PM EST. Or stay tuned to GameSkinny for up-to-the-minute reports as the showcase unfolds!

Beloved SMITE Player David "Allied" Hance Has Passed Away Wed, 03 May 2017 15:45:32 -0400 Auverin Morrow

After a brief stay in hospice following a years-long battle with gastro-esophageal cancer, SMITE pro player and popular streamer David "Allied" Hance passed away a few hours ago.

In one of his last tweets on April 29, Allied revealed that he had been admitted to the hospital with a very small chance of making it out again. He also mentioned making the decision to sign a DNR form should that turn out to be the case.

There was little more activity after the tweet was posted, and updates were only made available through his girlfriend, Michelle (@chellastro). Early on May 2nd, we learned that he was in hospice and heavily sedated with his loved ones by his side. But a reddit thread posted by his manager and close friend this morning confirmed that Allied passed away:

"...David "Allied" Hance is no longer with us. As some of you know, I was his mamanger/editor, but I was also one of his closest friends.

I was one of the only people to visit him in the hospital, so I have seen his pain, his scars...He didn't deserve to go through all that pain, to constantly be depressed. Even though he was one of the strongest guys out there, I'm glad he's no longer in pain..."

This news has deeply shaken the SMITE community, as many thought that he was cancer-free just a few months ago. After his initial cancer diagnosis in 2015, Allied retired from the competitive scene and tried his hand at both casting and streaming SMITE. Over the next two years, he went in and out of remission several times. But it looked like he was on the up and up -- so much so that he briefly came out of retirement for Season 4 earlier this year as a substitute for Luminosity. But a rapid decline in his condition kept him from participating in LANs and some other events.

Around this time last year, the SMITE community banded together during Hi-Rez Studios' Spring Fling charity stream to raise money for Allied's cancer treatments -- and successfully accumulated about $100,000 to help fund his medical care. Now, both Hi-Rez Studios and the SMITE community at large are showing their support in a far more trying time.

Allied's pro team, Luminosity, is selling his jersey and donating the profits to cancer research. DMBrandon and many other SMITE personalities are also promoting Allied's T-Shirt on Teespring to raise money for the player's family.

Hi-Rez Studios has yet to comment, but we're certain they will send their condolences to the family and putting something together for the community. For right now, any player who wants to pick up an Allied avatar can do so by typing #alliedstrong into their redeem code menu.

Our hearts go out to Allied's family and the SMITE community as a whole. He may be gone, but we will never forget that he was #AlliedStrong.

Call of Duty: WWII Trailer Offers a Sneak Peek of Classic Warfare Wed, 26 Apr 2017 14:05:30 -0400 Auverin Morrow

After tons of rumors and some leaked artwork suggesting that the next Call of Duty game would be set in World War II, developer Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that speculation with an official trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: WWII.

Marketed as an authentic reimagining of World War II, this is the first Call of Duty game in a long time that won't be featuring futuristic warfare. It's set in the European Theater from 1944-1945, and will have you playing a young private who is green on the battlefield and getting his first taste of "real action" during the Battle of Normandy.

The trailer above teases several other features alongside the main campaign -- including a co-op Zombie mode, an Axis vs. Allies multiplayer mode, and a social lobby that looks a lot like what you'd find in Destiny.

Call of Duty: WWII will be released on November 3 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. There will also be a closed beta available later this year, but there aren't further details on that just yet.

Kingdom Hearts 3: Sword in the Stone World Confirmed? Fri, 20 Jan 2017 06:08:07 -0500 Unclepulky

There are many Disney worlds that people would like to see make an appearance in Kingdom Hearts 3. Some of the most popular requests are a Toy Story world, a Frozen world, and worlds based off of the Marvel and Star Wars universes.

As of now, the Disney worlds which are 100% confirmed to be in the game include a Tangled world, a Big Hero 6 world, and the return of Hercules' world as well. Thanks to end of Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage, we know that Sora, Donald, and Goofy's first destination on their new adventure will indeed be Olympus Coliseum.

However, it's possible that KH 0.2 also revealed an entirely new world that we haven't seen yet -- the world of Sword in the Stone.

When Kairi is speaking with Master Yensid, he tells her that she'll be training in the way of the keyblade alongside Lea...under the tutelage of the wizard, Merlin.

Merlin was one of the main characters in Disney's The Sword in the Stone. So should we get the privilege to play as Kairi or Lea, then odds are we'll get to explore a world based on this movie.

While this is currently all we have to go on, there is a live-action Sword in the Stone film currently in pre-production. If that's a project that Disney cares about, the big mouse may want to promote it by putting a Sword in the Stone world in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Do you think we'll see an Arthurian world in Kingdom Hearts 3? What other worlds would you like to see? Let me know in the comments!

Nintendo Officially Announces the End of Wii U Production in Japan Thu, 10 Nov 2016 09:23:10 -0500 Nam T. Bui

Nintendo has announced on its official Japanese site that Wii U Production will be ending soon. Based on the info in the announcement, almost all of the Wii U's editions in Japan are labeled as "production is scheduled to end", with the only exception of white 32GB "Premium Set" bundle.

However, the announcement of ending production is only applicable to Japan, and there isn't any word yet on what the deal is in other regions. Nintendo also hasn't specified the exact date on which it will cease the Wii U's production.

On November 1st, rumors about the end of the Wii U's production line in Japan emerged from a number of different sources. It was speculated that Nintendo had taken the very first steps of shifting its priorities from the current-gen Wii to their latest game console, the Nintendo Switch. The next day, Nintendo stated via Japanese outlet IT Media that there was no upcoming change to Wii U production, and rumors about its end were not true.

Until now, that is.

The Wii U was the first system to step into the 8th generation of video game consoles. It launched back in November 2012 with major improvements from its last gen Wii, new controller designs, and more powerful hardware specs. However, the Wii U is considered to be one of the least successful consoles in the Nintendo family, with only 13 million units shipping worldwide -- while the GameCube sold 21 million units, the N64 sold 32 million units, and Wii sold 101 million units.

Major factors that contributed to Wii U's failure include low support from third-party game publishers, and weak hardware specs when comparing to its 8th gen counterparts, the Xbox One and PS4. Now that its production is ending, Nintendo is likely looking to the Switch to be another heavy-hitter in terms of sales and profit.

The Nintendo NX Reveal is Happening Tomorrow-- Here's How to See It Wed, 19 Oct 2016 15:55:27 -0400 Auverin Morrow

Ever since its initial announcement nearly 2 years ago, the Nintendo NX has been a total enigma. Nintendo has been tight-lipped about its next home console, and fans all over the world have been snapping at the bit for any information they can get their hands on.

We thought we might see a reveal sometime this month, but all rumors were unsubstantiated until today. A new message at the top of Nintendo's official website tells fans that they should tune in at 7 A.M. PT, 10 A.M. ET, and 3 P.M. UK time on Thursday, October 20th.

At this time, Nintendo will release a preview trailer that will serve as the first real peek into its upcoming NX console. Fans will get a first look at what the system has to offer, and will hear some preliminary information about the platform.

This is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated reveals of the year. Surely fans will be hyped to know that we won't have to wait nearly as long as we thought to see what Nintendo has in store for us next.

Beyond Good and Evil Semi-Reboot Coming in 2018...Exclusively for NX Tue, 18 Oct 2016 09:26:46 -0400 Unclepulky

Ever since the release of several teaser trailers in 2008 and 2009, fans of Ubisoft's Beyond Good and Evil have been waiting for any news relating to the game's sequel. It was recently revealed that a new game in the series was in pre-production, and the project was being helmed by Michael Ancel. However, it turns out that this game will not be a sequel, but rather, a semi-reboot.

While long-time fans of the game may criticize Ubisoft for not making a direct continuation -- especially since the original game ended on a cliffhanger -- the truth of the matter is that Beyond Good and Evil came out in 2003, 13 years ago. By modernizing and fleshing out the original title, new life could be breathed into the franchise. And if it sells well, we will continue to see more of series' protagonists Jade and Pey'j.

Regarding the desire for resolution on the game's cliffhanger, reports say that in addition to retelling the first game's story and exploring Pey'j's back story, this game will grant closure to the plot of the first Beyond Good and Evil. A different source has revealed that a CG teaser trailer similar to the one released in 2008 will be shown alongside the reveal of the Nintendo NX.

Currently, the game is set to come out in the Summer of 2018, and it will be exclusive to the NX.

What do you think about this design decision and the NX-exclusive plan? Be sure to let me know in the comments what your thoughts are, and what direction you hope the series goes from here.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Officially Announced Tue, 18 Oct 2016 05:11:59 -0400 Adam Morris

News has just broken that Rockstar Games' much anticipated sequel to Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released in Fall of 2017 with a trailer coming this Thursday, October 20th.

Since Monday, Rockstar has been posting teaser images via their Twitter, changing their profile avatar and website to match the red and black motif. Today Rockstar posted another tweet detailing and announcing the game's release for next year.

This release strategy is similar to that of the highly successful Grand Theft Auto V, with Rockstar slowly and mysteriously teasing the game before fully announcing it. However, Red Dead Redemption 2's announcement seems noticeably faster, with a trailer out in only two days.

Rockstar has stated that Red Dead Redemption 2 will release for Xbox One and PS4, but with a PC version releasing later in the game's life cycle being a strong bet.

For more news on Red Dead Redemption 2 stay on GameSkinny and check back in when the trailer drops on Thursday, October 20th.

Gran Turismo Sport Officially Delayed! Tue, 30 Aug 2016 04:34:32 -0400 Angie Harvey

The founder of Polyphony Digital and creator of the Gran Turismo series, Kazunori Yamauchi, has taken to the PlayStation Blog to officially announce the delay of Gran Turismo Sport to 2017. No specific date has been given, just the release window of 2017.

While fans have been patiently waiting three years for Gran Turismo Sport, the delay shouldn't really come as a shock. Speaking with a Chinese outlet, Sina, in early August, Kazunori had revealed that only around 70 percent of the game was completed. This information caused quite a stir amongst fans, with many doubting whether the game will actually meet it's November deadline.

While no specific reason was given for the delay, Kazunori explains that the decision to delay the game just months out from it's initial November 15 launch date was very difficult. Gran Turismo Sport has been Polyphony Digital's most ambitious undertakings yet with Kazunori stating:

"As we approach our planned release date in November, we realize we need more time to perfect GT Sport, which we’ve already dedicated so much effort towards since announcing the title. We do not want to compromise the experience in any way. While we cannot confirm a new release date at this time, we are more committed than ever to making GT Sport the best Gran Turismo game to date."

Although the game may be delayed, don't expect it to just disappear as it will continue to be shown at several gaming events around the world.

Final Fantasy XV Delay Confirmed, New Release Date Announced! Mon, 15 Aug 2016 04:14:06 -0400 Angie Harvey

Coming just days after a rumors of a delay circulated the Internet, Square Enix has made an official press release confirming that Final Fantasy XV has indeed been delayed. Final Fantasy XV will now be releasing globally on November 29, which is almost two months from the previously announced date.

According to the press release, the delay "will allow the development teams time to further polish and conduct quality testing so that the reality of the game can match the expectations of both the fans and the creative teams."

Game Director, Hajime Tabata, has continued to share the reasoning behind the delay and why it is so important.

“From the moment we joined this project, our vision was to create a level of freedom and realism previously unseen in the series. Regrettably, we need a little bit more time to deliver on this vision and are confident that this new release date will help us achieve this.

As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want FINAL FANTASY XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”

In an official YouTube announcement (below), Hajime Tabata further detailed more about the game by stating that the master version of Final Fantasy XV was completed just the other day. However, once work started on the day-one patch, it was found that the contents of the patch would be best shipped with the final game and not as a downloadable update.

Tabata felt that while the current version of the game would satisfy the majority of the players, he wanted to ensure that every single person that purchases the game receives the highest possible quality. This of course, would not be possible for those that could not connect their device to the internet. Tabata and his team realized that by delivering the master version that is currently finished, they would wind up regretting it.

Also announced is that a 30 minute gameplay video will be released on August 16, which will showcase the current master version.

Despite the delay, hearing that Hajime Tabata and his team want to ensure that fans receive the best game possible on release, should be something to get the fans excited.

Are you happy to wait the extra two months or would you have just preferred day-one downloadable patches? Let us know in the comments section below!

New Sonic game confirmed by Sonic Team Thu, 23 Jun 2016 11:41:05 -0400 Anthony Pelone

Hot on the heels of Sonic's 25th anniversary, Sonic Team leader Takashi Iizuka has confirmed the existence of a new Sonic game. In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Iizuka commented on the general future of Sonic, stating the following:

"We at Sonic Team – are developing a completely new game, as well as developing a full movie, actively done by Sony Pictures, and animation on Sonic Boom. We are also ready to improve sponsor ties. The most important thing is not the fact the series survived for 25 years, but how many games [were] developed. Our goal – add something new and overcome any potential hardships."

While no new information on the game was revealed, it's worth remembering that a 25th anniversary game was recently teased on Sonic's official Twitter account. The only other Sonic game in the pipeline is Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice for 3DS, but that title's development is being handled by Sanzaru Games (let it also be reminded that Sonic Boom is under a different brand than Sonic Team's output, which is the actual main series).

Regardless, we'll be on the lookout for any updates on the new Sonic game. All signs point to it celebrating Sonic's 25th anniversary, but it's currently unknown if it'll be in the same vein as Generations.

Rumor Mill: Breath of the Wild lists cartridges as medium, confirms NX rumor? Thu, 23 Jun 2016 04:22:22 -0400 David Fisher

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was only officially named last week, but the game has already gained some attention in terms of controversy. But the news of this game hardly stops there! Recently, a rumor has been going about NeoGAF about the patent for the latest Zelda game, and the rumor is very interesting indeed.

While we know for a fact that "downloadable" and "video game discs" are likely referring to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Wii U version, what we don't know is what "video game cartridges" and "video game memory cards" references. It could be very well possible that these reference the Nintendo NX, a console already rumored to have cartridges - and is confirmed by GameStop as having a physical medium.

Further evidence supporting the idea that the NX (and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild by extension) will have cartridge media is that the patent for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE does not have it listed. However, one counter argument to this patent is that Ever Oasis also lists "video game discs" (see below) as a medium for the game, despite being a 3DS title.

Remember, as always these are simply rumors until confirmed. While a US patent seems like a legitimate source, their text-based format can be forged. Until a source directly links to the patents themselves, these images are to be taken with a grain of salt.

This concludes this session of Rumor Mill. What do you think about the patents? Do you believe that this confirms the NX rumor? Leave your opinions in the comments section below!

Sony confirms: Playstation 4K is REAL! But it won't be at E3. Fri, 10 Jun 2016 04:17:36 -0400 Joey Marrazzo

After months of speculation coming out about an upgraded version of the PlayStation 4, it was assumed we would see an official announcement of the upgrade at this year's E3. Turns out, we were wrong.

President of Sony Interactive Entertainment Andrew House confirmed to Financial Times that a high-end version of the PS4 is indeed coming. But they aren't showing it at E3.

This new version will support Ultra High-Definition and will have 4K capabilities. When asked about the price, House mentioned that it will be more expensive than the $350 PS4 that is available now. This new PS4 will not replace the current version, but will complement it.

House also emphasized that the PS4K will NOT be at this year's E3 -- but he didn't mention when we will get our first look at it. Sony might be saving the reveal of the PS4K for GamesCom in August, or maybe Sony will hold their own conference later in the year to showcase the console's compatibility with the upcoming PSVR that is due to be released in November 2016.

(But if you want to see what Sony does have planned for E3, you're in luck. Their presentation schedule was leaked earlier today.)

With the PS4 being the highest selling console of this generation, Sony might want to keep the strong sales going and announce the console soon so it will be ready for the public for the holidays.

What do you think? Do we really need the PS4K? Are you willing to shell out more than $350 for a console that supports 4K when most households don't even have a 4K television? Is it too soon for an updated console since the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 were released only 3 years ago? Let us know in the comments what you think of this updated console and whether you plan on buying one when it's released.

Heroes Assemble -- Injustice 2 CONFIRMED! Wed, 08 Jun 2016 06:12:45 -0400 Joey Marrazzo

With E3 just around the corner, more and more games have been getting revealed. Rumors of a sequel to the DC Comics fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us have been building up after GameStop received posters with the game's alleged logo on it. To put an end to the rumors, Warner Brothers officially announced Injustice 2 with this trailer.

The original Injustice came out in 2013 and was based in an alternate universe where the Joker tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane. Following that, Superman creates a new world order and Batman creates a team to stop him.

Injustice 2 continues the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk.

In addition to the heroes that were introduced in the original Injustice, several new characters will be added -- including Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus.

If you have the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game, you can unlock Injustice 2 skins for Superman and Aquaman through in-game challenge modes.

The game is set to release in 2017 for Xbox One and Playstation 4. Hopefully we will see more of Injustice 2 at E3 next week.

Nintendo confirms "game-play enhancements" for Twilight Princess HD Mon, 08 Feb 2016 21:00:38 -0500 Zanne Nilsson

Nintendo recently confirmed a handful of what they call "gameplay enhancements" for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for the Wii U.

Some of these are confirmations of previously rumored changes to the game, such as a touchscreen inventory, hero mode, and the bonus "Cave of Shadows" dungeon, which can only be unlocked using the Wolf Link amiibo that will be bundled with some versions of the game. The specifics of other amiibo functionality weren't revealed, though the announcement does confirm that Legend of Zelda amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. series will have "various in-game effects."

Other previously unknown changes - such as Miiverse interaction and the ability to play the game off-TV on the GamePad - are unsurprising. One welcome addition to the HD re-release is a new item called the "Ghost Lantern," which "will glow when in the same area as a Poe (a kind of ghost), making the Poe soul-retrieving quest much easier to complete." Anyone playing the remake who tried to complete that frustrating quest in the original GameCube/Wii version of the game will likely appreciate anything that makes collecting Poe souls easier.
