Gerringothe Thorm is an optional boss you might come across north of Moonrise Towers in the Tollhouse. If you can pass a tough Skill Check in Deception or Persuasion, then you can beat her without fighting. However, this guide will run you through how to beat Gerringothe Thorm in a fight in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Beat Gerrinothe Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3

Gerringothe Thorm is an intimidating fight because she has 600 Health, but you can make the battle much easier on yourself with a few tricks.

Get Rid of Your Gold

First, you’ll want to limit or remove your gold because she has an attack that makes gold explode. I just used the “Send to Camp” option on all my gold to avoid taking damage since you’ll take half damage from her ability even if you pass the Dexterity Save. Since Combustible Coins can kill a character early in the fight depending on how much gold they have, this is the easiest way to negate that possibility.

You’ll also want to consider stealthing through the Tollhouse before catching Gerringothe’s attention  to gather the gold on the ground and send it to Camp because those will also be affected by her Combustible Coins ability.

Focus on the Floating Skulls

Next, you’ll want to focus on the six floating skulls in the Tollhouse. You’ll notice that each time you kill a skull, Gerringothe loses 100 Health. That’s because this healthbar is armor that she gets from the skulls being alive. Kill all the floating skulls, and you’ll deal Gerringothe a heavy blow since she’s much easier to damage without all that armor.

Kill Gerringothe

Finally, focus down Gerringothe. Her attacks still hurt, but she only has 6 Health now. At this point, you’re mostly done with the battle and you have only one target that you have to handle. Finish up the fight, and then remember to collect all the riches the Tollhouse has to offer.

And that’s how you beat Gerringothe Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3 if you aren’t able to pass the Skill Checks required to avoid a fight. Although she looks deceptively strong, the fight isn’t bad if you deal with the floating skulls first.
