The Best Rival 9 Loadout in CoD MW3
Once you unlock Rival 9 by reaching Level 25, I recommend using one of the two following loadouts for this SMG, which has shown some of the best results in my testing. While there are other loadouts available for the gun, I’ve had the most success using the following.

- Boots: Tactical Boots
- Barrel: Rival-38E Fire Starter Barrel
- Muzzle: Bruen Pendulum
- Rear Grip: Rival Vice Assault Grip
- Underbarrel: XRK Edge BW-4 Handstop
- Quick-Grip Loadout:
- Vest: Infantry Vest
- Gloves: Quick-Grip Gloves
- Boots: Tactical Boots
- Barrel: Rival-38E Fire Starter Barrel
- Muzzle: Purifier Muzzle Brake S
- Rear Grip: Bruen Flash V4 Stock
- Underbarrel: Bruen Pivot Vertical Grip
Both of these loadouts are extremely lightweight, lending to multiple playstyles, but they both function quite differently beyond that. The first Rival 9 loadout (Scavenger) focuses more on damage output, so you’ll want to draw quickly and be close to your target to minimize bullet spread. This is great for very close-quarters fighting, such as in a house or another tight location.
The second Rival 9 loadout (Quick-Grip) is designed for better accuracy. While any Rival 9 strategy focuses on close-quarters combat because of the gun’s inherent bullet drop, this one does allow you some more distance over the Scavenger. There’s less spray and pray and play here, and I’ve been luckier with getting headshots with this loadout.

Benefits of Choosing These Attachments for the Rival 9
The biggest advantages that you get from these two loadouts are the rear grips. For example, the Bruen Flash V4 Stock offers various advantages, including less recoil and more stability. That’s why using this attachment makes it easier to control the gun while firing. On the other hand, the Rival Vice Assault Grip reduces sway during ADS.
Another important feature is the muzzle, which can have a dual benefit. Bruen Pendulum is a good standard for improving stability, while Purifier Muzzle Brake S reduces the muzzle rise, affecting your recoil positively.
Lastly, the underbarrel choices that I made for both loadouts include the XRK Edge BW-4 Handstop, which is great for maintaining recoil, and the Bruen Pivot Vertical Grip, which is designed specifically to increase shot accuracy.
When you combine all these elements into two of the best Rival 9 loadouts in the game, you’ll get some fantastic results. The chosen infantry gear and two specific pairs of gloves will allow you to switch between weapons and ensure that your reload times are quick and steady.
Why the Rival 9 Can Be So Deadly
The best part about the Rival 9 is that it’s lightweight, which allows you to clear any area suitable for close-range combat quickly. Due to its high TTK, you’ll always have a failsafe at your disposal, either getting the jump on other players or bailing yourself out quickly if another player gets the jump on you.
General Tips for Using the Rival 9 Effectively
That said, I wouldn’t use the Rival 9’s fully automatic setting since it can increase the gun’s recoil significantly. Controlled bursts are far more accurate and deadly. Lastly, be sure to use it only in close-quarters firefights. The gun’s bullet drop makes it entirely useless at medium to long range.
