To get Uncommon Aether Tool Plans in MWZ, you’ll need to complete the following four tasks in the Saboteur Challenge in Act One:
- Complete an Aether Extractor Contract.
- Kill 15 Mercenaries guarding the Extractor.
- Shoot down a reinforcement helicopter, which drops the Uncommon Aether Tool Plans.
- Exfil with the Uncommon Aether Tool Plans successfully.

Once you successfully exfil with Uncommon Aether Tool Plans, you’ll find them in the Schematics section of your loadout. You can then craft the Uncommon Aether Tool once every three hours, and bring them in with you from the get-go.
Once you’ve got your Tool crafted, you’ll simply need to open your Rucksack once you drop into Uzbekistan and apply the Uncommon Aether Tool to your equipped weapon. As mentioned, consuming it upgrades your weapon to Uncommon rarity. Just make sure you’ve got the weapon you want to upgrade equipped.
