Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost: Horror Story God Rolls for PvE and PvP

The Horror Story Auto Rifle, only available during Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost, has some amazing god rolls for both PvE and PvP.

Event weapons in Destiny 2 don’t always enter the meta, but a god roll Horror Story Auto Rifle looks like a contender in both PvE and PvP. And Bungie was nice enough to let us target farm them during Festival of the Lost, and only during Festival of the Lost.

The Horror Story Auto Rifle God Roll for PvE

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake, Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds, Tactical Mag
  • Trait 1: Demolitionist, Enlightened Action
  • Trait 2: Target Lock, Headstone

The Horror Story Auto Rifle is yet another fantastic choice for AR lovers in Destiny 2. It’s slower-firing than some of the traditional meta options, but with the combination of Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Enlightened Action, and Target Lock, not only does it handle obscenely well, it also has solid range, stability, and ramping damage.

If you’re using the Horror Story as part of a Stasis build, especially one that relies on always having a grenade handy, combining Demolitionist and Headstone turns the weapon into a crystal-making machine. Trade out Headstone for Target Lock in that situation, and the Horror Story works in almost any build that needs grenade recharge.

The Horror Story Auto Rifle God Roll for PvP

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake, Corkscrew Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds, Tactical Mag
  • Trait 1: Dynamic Sway Reduction, Enlightened Action
  • Trait 2: Target Lock, Collective Action

While the PvP barrel and magazine options are the same, combining Dynamic Sway Reduction and Target Lock with the other usability perks makes the Horror Story a bit of a laser. The kind of laser that packs a punch. If you’re using a build that can generate Stasis Crystals or any other type of elemental pickup, you can cut the weapon’s time to kill by about 25% — or a single shot. It only takes six shots to kill if you get only headshots with Cascade Point active, making the Horror Story more than a little scary in the Crucible.

The other perks you might consider for a PvP build include Vorpal Weapon for more anti-Super/boss enemy use or Frenzy for a more general use case. However, the setups presented here make the Horror Story the best it can possibly be, even in a meta where 600 RPM Autos are coming back into their own.

That covers the Horror Story god rolls for both PvE and PvP during Festival of the Lost. For more on Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost, check out our guides on how to get the Lost Momento, Spectral Pages, and more in our D2 guides hub.
