Here's how to complete the Keeping the Old Traditions quest in Diablo 4, as well as the statue's riddle solution.

There are a number of emote-related quests throughout Sanctuary, and some are easier to decipher than others. However, they all rely on the same mechanics once you’ve figured out the answers. Here’s how to solve the statue emote riddle in Keeping the Old Traditions in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4: How to Solve the Statue Emote Riddle in Keeping the Old Traditions

If you’re here, it’s likely because you’re stuck on the emote riddle in Keeping the Old Traditions. Let’s go ahead and solve that first so you can get back to exploring and killing demons. For anyone else looking to start the quest, you can find that further down in my guide.

The book you’ve read leading up to this point gives you the answer. Follow these exact steps:

  • Open the action wheel by pressing “E” on PC or Up on the D-pad on PlayStation and Xbox.
  • Go to the emote wheel.
  • Choose the Yes emote.

If you don’t have the Yes emote on your emote wheel, add it or check out our guide on how to assign emotes. Once you emote, a chest will pop up on the side of the statue, and the quest will be completed!

Keeping the Old Traditions Rewards

Sadly, you won’t get too much for completing this quest. You’ll get Renown, XP, and Gold. But that’s not too bad for the work you put into it.

How to Start Keeping the Old Traditions

If you want that Renown, XP, and Gold, though, here’s how to start Keeping the Old Traditions. Go to the Dry Steppes Untamed Scarps area. The book that gives you this quest is located on the eastern side of the area. I found it was easiest to reach the location by teleporting to Jirandai and then heading northwest up to the quest marker.

Once there, clear out any mobs who may be eyeing you as a snack, then read the book to start the quest. The passage is as follows: “Though timeworn, you endure. Before your colorful kin, I say: Yes, I keep our traditions!”

Keeping the Old Traditions Statue Location

The next step is to find the statue mentioned in the text and emote in front of it. The statue is on the path just to the west of your current location. It’s not brightly colored but does appear to be a shrine to the ancestors lit by candles. Now, just follow the steps at the top of this guide and use the Yes emote to get your rewards.

That’s how to solve the statue emote riddle in the Keeping the Old Traditions quest in Diablo 4. This quest falls into a similar category of emote-centered side quests, such as Secret of the Spring and Reject the Mother.
