To solve the Secret of the Spring riddle, use the “Wait” emote when you reach the quest’s titular spring. Follow these exact steps:

  • Open your action wheel by holding “E” on PC or Up on the D-pad on PlayStation and Xbox.
  • When you switch to the emote wheel, you’ll notice that the “Wait” command isn’t there.
  • Click the “Customize” option to find it alongside a list of other emotes.
  • Equip the emote and use it. This will cause a chest to appear near you magically.

How to Start Secret of the Spring in Diablo 4

If you’re looking to start the Secret of the Spring side quest in Diablo 4, you can do so by reading a note found in a cliffside work area north of Kyovashad. Go north of the city until you see a narrow path that leads to the Forsaken Quarry dungeon.

The note is in the area overlooking the entrance to the dungeon itself. I’ve marked it with a star on the map image below.

When you interact with the note, you’ll read a riddle that says: “Beacon of warmth in winter’s embrace, patience rewarded by nature’s own grace.” This will let you track the Secret of the Spring quest in your journal. From there, head to the marked location. Upon arriving, you’ll see a quaint spring. Once there, follow the steps above to solve the riddle.

And that’s how to solve the Secret of the Spring riddle in Diablo 4. You’ll earn some XP and gold for your efforts. Don’t forget that there are other quests out there with context clues, and they might also require you to use emotes. For more, check out our Diablo 4 guides page.
