How to Buy Animals

To care for animals, you’ll need to get some first. You can buy animals by visiting Earline and Jeremiah in the Plains of Plenty in east Azora. Earline sells Chickoo and Cottontail, and Jeremiah sells Mamoo and Woolyhorn. Here’s a breakdown of animal costs and their resources.

  • Chickoo
    • Cost: 200 Florin.
    • Prerequisite: Animal Coop Unlocked.
    • Resource: Eggs.
  • Cottontail

How to Keep Animals Happy

There are a few statuses to keep track of to take proper care of your animals:

  • Brushing
  • Petting
  • Food
  • Fresh Air

I’ve found that I don’t necessarily have to complete every action daily. However, you’ll want to keep them fed by filling their trough. Each status will affect their overall mood, and you want to keep animals’ moods to at least content so that they’re producing resources for you. Additionally, the happier animals are, the more resources they produce. Here’s how to complete each care action.

  • Brushing
    • Approach the animal and use the action key. Brushing only applies to animals with fur.
  • Petting
    • Approach the animal and use the action key.
  • Food
    • Enter the barn/coop and approach the trough in the upper left corner. Then, use your action key to enter the trough interface. Finally, select the animal that needs feed.
  • Fresh Air
    • Ring the bell to the right of the building to call your animals outside.

How to Feed Animals in Fae Farm

Animals will consume food that’s unique to where they’re housed. So, Coop animals will only eat Plant Fibers, and Barn animals will only eat Fodder. You can easily find both resources on your Homestead property. However, I discovered that you can craft patches of Grass when you run out. Here’s how to craft the animal feed.

  • Wild Grass Patch
    • Recipe: x5 Silt, x5 Rough Citrine, x3 Bug Juice.
    • Use: Makes 5×5 square of wild grass to harvest into plant fibers to feed Cottontail and Chickoo.
  • Fodder Grass Patch
    • Recipe: x5 Mulch, x5 Rough Peridot, x3 Shell Bits.
    • Use: Makes 5×5 square of fodder to harvest into fodder to feed Mamoo and Woolyhorn.

When filling your animals’ trough, you’ll notice that it’s only capable of storing x1 feed per day. However, you can upgrade troughs to store 10 days’ worth of food by visiting Jeremiah or Earline and purchasing an upgraded trough for 1,500 Florins.

How to Harvest Animal Resources

How to harvest resources depends on the animal and where it’s housed. So, Coop animals will require you to enter the coop to collect resources, while Barn animals require you to approach them. Additionally, barn animals will have an icon above them that will notify you when the resource is available. Here’s how to harvest each animal resource.

  • Eggs
    • Collection Method: Enter the Coop and collect from the Chickoo’s bed.
  • Raw Cotton
    • Collection Method: Enter the Coop and collect from the Cottontail’s bed.
  • Milk
    • Collection Method: Approach ready Mamoo and use the action key to collect the milk.
  • Raw Wool
    • Collection Method: Approach ready Woolyhorn and use the action key to shear and collect the wool.

How to Buy Fae Animals in Fae Farm

To buy Fae animals, you’ll need to unlock the Fae realm, so beware of major spoilers in this section. After you complete the Floating Ruins mine dungeon, the Miasma fog will disappear from town, and you’ll gain access to the Fae animal merchant, Reyglor. Here’s a breakdown of the available Fae animals and their resources.

  • Spriggan
    • Cost: 400 Florin.
    • Prerequisite: Fae Pen.
    • Resource: Spriggan Leaf.
  • Lunen
    • Cost: 400 Florin.
    • Prerequisite: Fae Pen.
    • Resource: Silk.

To harvest your Spriggan and Lunen resources, you’ll use the same methods as the Homestead coop and enter the Fae Pen to collect the resources from the creatures’ beds.

How to Feed Fae Animals

The Fae animals have the same happiness requirements as farm animals. However, there are differences in their feed. The Fae animals consume Clover Feed that you can harvest from Clover Grass patches throughout the Fae realm. Here’s how to craft a Clover Grass Patch if you can’t find any.

  • Clover Grass Patch
    • x5 Shade Jelly
    • x5 Rough Amethyst
    • x3 Nectar

The recipe requires quite a bit of material hunting, so I recommend it as a last resort. I’ve found that resources in the Fae Realm will regenerate after a few in-game days, and you can upgrade your Fae Pen trough from Reyglor for 1,500 Florins so that it stores 10 days worth of feed.

Well, that’s all there is to know about how to purchase and care for animals in Fae Farm. We’ve got plenty more to discover at our Fae Farm guides hub, like how to breed animals.
