Alchemist class quests may not be all that fun, but they are necessary steps toward receiving your level 50 alembic, the Paracelsus.

The overall goal of this and the other tradecraft class quest guides is to give those of you leveling some idea of what to do ahead of time (and know what gear is to come), or for those of you (like me) who rush your tradecrafts and go back and do the class quests later.
There are three particular things to note here:
- Every quest sans your level 1 has a monetary optional reward instead of gear. These amounts are not listed.
- The required items for the quests between 1 and 15 can be purchased at either a guild supplier or tradecraft vendor. It’s up to you whether you want to craft or purchase the requested item.
- The optional rewards are the same among every tradecraft. For example, the level 10 Carpenter quest offers the same rewards as the level 10 Culinarian quest and so on. This does not apply to level 50 quests.
Level 1 – My First Alembic
Requires: 1 Distilled Water
Distilled Water ingredients: 1 Water Shard, 1 Muddy Water
Reward: 150 Water Shard, 100 Lightning Shard, 10 Copper Sand, Hempen Kurta
Level 5 – The Second Principle
Requires: 1 Antidote
Antidote ingredients: 1 Lightning Shard, 1 Water Shard, 1 Rock Salt, 1 Grass Viper
Reward: 200 Water Shard, 150 Lightning Shard, Amateur’s Mortar
Optional reward: Hempen Bandana, Hempen Chausses, Maple Pattens
Level 10 – All of Your Beeswax
Requires: 12 Beeswax
Beeswax ingredients: 1 Water Shard, 3 Beehive Chip
Reward: 250 Water Shard, 200 Lightning Shard, Bronze Alembic
Optional reward: Amateur’s Headgear, Amateur’s Kurta, Amateur’s Smithing Gloves
Level 15 – For Fair Love
Requires: 1 Potion of Intelligence, 1 Potion of Dexterity
Potion of Intelligence ingredients: 1 Lightning Shard, 1 Water Shard, 1 Beastkin Blood, 1 Rock Salt, 1 Red Landtrap Leaf
Potion of Dexterity ingredients: 1 Lightning Shard, 1 Water Shard, 1 Bat Fang, 1 Rock Salt
Reward: Recruit’s Mortar
Optional reward: Hempen Doublet Vest of Crafting, Hard Leather Merchant’s Pouch, Ash Pattens
Level 20 – The Arcanist’s Tome
Requires: 1 Hard Leather Grimoire (melded with 1 materia)
Hard Leather Grimoire components: 1 Lightning Shard, 1 Water Shard, 1 Hard Leather, 1 Cotton Yarn, 1 Elm Log, 1 Enchanted Iron Ink
Reward: Initiate’s Alembic
Optional reward: Initiate’s Headgear, Initiate’s Gloves, Cotton Breeches of Crafting
Level 25 – Practical Alchemy
Requires: 1 Natron (HQ)
Natron ingredients: 2 Water Shard, 1 Effervescent Water, 1 Rock Salt
Reward: Initiate’s Mortar
Optional reward: Silver Magnifiers, Initiate’s Gown, Velveteen Halfgloves
Level 30 – Baleful Brews
Requires: 3 Weak Blinding Potion (HQ)
Weak Blinding Potion ingredients: 1 Lightning Shard, 2 Water Shard, 1 Bat Fang, 1 Quicksilver, 1 Bat Wing
Reward: Conical Alembic
Optional reward: Velveteen Beret, Velveteen Gown, Velveteen Shortgloves
Level 35 – Cease and Assist
Requires: 1 Hi-Ether (HQ)
Hi-Ether ingredients: 3 Lightning Shards, 4 Water Shard, 1 Distilled Water, 1 Matron’s Mistletoe, 1 Mandrake
Reward: Silver Alembic
Optional reward: Mythril Magnifiers, Apprentice’s Smock, Linen Halfgloves
Level 40 – Might Made Right
Requires: 3 Hi-Potion of Strength (HQ)
Hi-Potion of Strength ingredients: 3 Lightning Shard, 4 Water Shard, 1 Gil Bun, 1 Blue Yarzon Leg, 1 Rock Salt
Reward: Apprentice’s Mortar
Optional reward: Linen Deerstalker, Linen Smock, Boarskin Smithy’s Gloves
Level 45 – Ultimate Alchemy
Requires: 1 Mega-Potion of Intelligence (HQ), 1 Mega-Potion of Mind (HQ), 1 Mega-Potion of Vitality (HQ)
Mega-Potion of Intelligence ingredients: 5 Lightning Shard, 6 Water Shard, 1 Sandworm Fang, 1 Rock Salt, 1 Black Scorpion
Mega-Potion of Mind ingredients: 5 Lightning Shard, 5 Water Shard, 1 Rock Salt, 1 Ahriman Wing
Mega-Potion of Vitality ingredients: 5 Lightning Shard, 6 Water Shard, 1 Rock Salt, 1 Grenade Ash, 1 Pudding Flesh
Reward: Electrum Alembic
Optional reward: Woolen Deerstalker, Woolen Smock, Raptorskin Smithy’s Gloves
Level 50 – Momentary Miracle
Requires: 1 Budding Rosewood Wand (HQ, melded with 1 Quicktongue III materia)
Budding Rosewood Wand components: 6 Lightning Shard, 6 Water Shard, 1 Mega-Potion of Mind, 1 Rosewood Branch, 1 Growth Formula Gamma, 1 Spoken Blood
Reward: Paracelsus
Optional reward: Alchemist’s Monacle, Alchemist’s Gloves, Alchemist’s Thighboots
