Aventurine is a 5-star Preservation character who rolled out during the latter half of Honkai: Star Rail’s Version 2.1 update. Being a Preservation unit, this character’s main focus is survivability, creating beefy shields for all units for just one skill point. While he certainly thrives in sustaining teams, Aventurine’s abilities also have the potential to unleash some serious damage with the right build. Ahead are the best Light Cones, Relic sets, Traces, and teams you should prioritize to get the most out of the cocky gambler.
Best Light Cones for Aventurine
While Aventurine has a few Preservation Light Cones you can slap onto him, prioritize Cones that add DEF to help boost his shield strength and damage. Ideally, any Light Cones that offer high base DEF, or solid DEF% multipliers as their effect, are going to work well him since you want to hit 4000 DEF to maximize his CRIT Rate bonus Trace. Here are a few of Aventurine’s best Light Cones:
Light Cone | Where to Get |
Inherently Unjust Destiny (5-star) | Brilliant Fixation (Limited-Event Banner) |
Moment of Victory (5-star) | Stellar Warp (Standard Banner) and Starlight Exchange Shop |
Concert for Two (4-star) | Event Warps |
Destiny’s Threads Forewoven (4-star) | Whodunit Quest Reward and Light Cone Manifest Shop |
Day One of My New Life (4-star) | Stellar War (Standard Banner) and All Event Warps |

General Stats
Building DEF% on Aventurine is going to be your main priority when you’re gathering and leveling up relics. Aventurine’s kit scales entirely off of DEF%, which makes this stat absolutely valuable when trying to increase his overall damage and shield strength. However, once you hit 4000 DEF, you can opt for other damage-increasing stats like CRIT DMG/Rate.
The reason why this number is so important is because this is the cap amount of DEF he needs to get the most out of his CRIT Rate boosting Trace (this will give him around 48% CRIT rate at 4000 DEF). Another stat to go for is 134 SPD to grant him an extra amount of turns, although this may not be necessary if you’d like him to focus on shielding and follow-up attacks.
The following are the main stats you want on all of his relic pieces:
- Body: DEF% or CRIT DMG (CRIT DMG works if you can easily hit 4000 DEF via Light Cone bonuses)
- Feet: Speed or DEF% (Speed allows Aventurine attack more often, but if you need extra help getting to 4000 DEF, you may want to opt for DEF%)
- Planar Sphere: DEF% or Imaginary DMG% (Going for Imaginary DMG% should only be done if you’re able to hit 4000 DEF via other relics or Light Cones)
- Link Rope: DEF%
Relic Sets
Relic Set | Effect |
4-Piece Knight of Purity Palace | Increase DEF by 15% and increase the max DMG that can be absorbed by the shield created by the wearer by 20%. |
2-Piece Knight of Purity Palace + 2-Piece The Ashblazing Grand Duke | Knight Set increases DEF by 15%. Ashblazing Set increases follow-up attack DMG by 20%. |
2-Piece Knight of Purity Palce + 2-Piece Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters | Knight Set increases DEF by 15%. Pioneer Diver set increases DMG dealt to enemies with debuff by 12% |
Planar Sets
Planar Set | Effect |
Inert Salsotto | Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 50% or higher, the wearer’s Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG increases by 15%. |
Broken Keel | Increases the wearer’s Effect RES by 10%. When the wearer’s Effect RES is at 30% or higher, all allies’ CRIT DMG increases by 10%. |
Aventurine Trace Priorities
When building Aventurine, you should focus on leveling up his Skill, Talent, and Ultimate Traces. These Traces are tied to all the parts of Aventurine’s kit that you’ll likely be using the most when he’s on the field. Additionally, when they become available, focus on getting all of his Major Traces to give him extra bonuses that affect his damage output and shield strength.
Best Aventurine Team Comps
As a shield character, Aventurine can be used in any team to add extra survivability. However, there are some characters he synergizes with really well.
Team #1: Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, Topaz, Ruan Mei
This premium 5-star team makes the most out of everyone’s follow-up attacks. Here, Aventurine helps keep everyone alive with his shield while also dishing out solid damage via his follow-up attack. Dr. Ratio and Topaz specifically synergize well with Aventurine, and they’ll all trigger each other’s follow-up attacks.
Ruan Mei is mostly here to buff everyone’s damage, but she can easily be swapped out for another Harmony unit, like Tingyun if you need extra energy or Asta if you want more speed. Additionally, you can swap Topaz or Dr. Ratio with debuffers like Pela or Silver Wolf — just be sure to have a slot open for a damage dealer.
Team #2: Aventurine, Achron, Silver Wolf, Pela
This team focuses on building up Acheron’s Ultimate as fast as you can. Aventurine really works well with Acheron because his Ultimate debuffs enemies, allowing Acheron to build stacks to charge up her Ultimate. Silver Wolf and Pela also contribute to Acheron’s stacks by debuffing enemies on their own, but having a character on-field like Aventurine who can debuff and keep units alive is extremely helpful. Since this team is built more around Acheron than Aventurine, if you don’t have her, this comp isn’t really viable.
We hope that you were able to help your Aventurine reach his full potential. For more tips on character builds, team comps, and more, be sure to check out our HSR guides.
