Kogen, Zubi, Yuthus Boss Battle Guide in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Kogen, Zubi, and Yuthus are hiding deep in the abandoned mine and are willing to come to blows to defend it. Despite being three different characters, their teamwork is so good that they almost form one boss between them.

You’ll need to target them in the proper order and keep up with their “secret weapon” to damage them effectively and ultimately defeat them. We’ll split the battle into stages to show you how to complete it. First and foremost, you’ll want to choose “Fight” over Auto Battle to follow the proper battle patterns.

Stage One – Yuthus

In the first stage of this boss battle, you’ll face all three of them together. However, Yuthus is their defense master. Any time you try to target one of the others, Yuthus will shield them and prevent them from receiving damage.

To progress past this point, you’ll need to focus all your attention on Yuthus. You won’t be able to hit anyone else without him blocking them. Use as many armor-piercing attacks as you can to break through his defense and take him down as quickly as possible. Zabi might heal him several times, but try to ignore it as much as possible. If you have all your heroes hitting him, it shouldn’t matter how much healing he receives.

Stage Two – Gimmick

Once you defeat Yuthus, the battle will progress into stage two. At this point, Kogen will start flipping the lever to move a crane with a rock over the top of your heroes. To avoid receiving damage from the falling rock, you’ll want to have one of your heroes hit the lever each time it’s active to reverse the direction over Kogen and Zabi.

You can ensure you catch the Gimmick by watching the turn order at the top of the screen. When the rock is about to fall, you’ll see the crane icon in one of the circles. To hit Kogen with it instead, you’ll need to have a hero attack the lever before its turn. The rock will do 50 damage to each enemy every time it’s active.

Stage Three – Zabi

The Gimmick will continue every other round of the battle, but you’ll still want to work your way into stage three at the same time. Your next step will be to focus your attention on Zabi. Zabi is the healer of the three bosses and will keep healing himself and Kogen as much as possible.

If you want to defeat the last two of them, you’ll need to eliminate all the healing possibilities. Focus all damage on Zabi. Since he’s in the backline, only some characters have a far enough range to reach him. So, use all farther-range heroes to hit him (e.g. Nowa, Garr, and Mellore), and use one who can’t reach him to hit the Gimmick when needed. The others can provide defense from Kogen’s attacks.

Stage Four – Kogen

Finally, once you’ve taken out the healer, you can focus all your attention on General Kogen. He’s not an easy target to defeat. He has plenty of health and will continuously throw high-damaging explosives on you. Your best chance of grinding out the damage and beating him is to use Francesca’s defense buff and heal as much as needed.

You can focus all your damaging characters on Kogen as long as you have constant support. You can charge up Yasuke’s attacks and deal double the damage with his attacks. Plus, stay on the Gimmick as much as you can to add that damage in as well. You’ll defeat him in no time if you keep this up for a few rounds.

Once he’s defeated, you can complete your mission and continue forward in the story. You’re bound to get a hefty bit of XP for your heroes and have a better understanding of how Boss battles work.
