Skyrim: How to Find and Craft Refined Moonstone

Refined Moonstone is a precious resource for crafting and upgrading various items and gear. However, first, you’ll have to find Moonstone Ore. Then you’ll have to forge it into Refined Moonstone to create armor and weapons.

Where to Find Moonstone Ore

Moonstone Ore can be found in several locations across the map. However, you’ll need to look closely to find it. The best places to find Moonstone Ore are through mining in caves or by trading with merchants.

  • Mining: One of the most direct methods of acquiring refined moonstones is mining. Look for moonstone ore veins in caves, mines, and rocky outcrops. Notable locations include Soljund’s Sinkhole near Markarth and the Kynesgrove mine in Eastmarch.
  • Merchants and Traders: Look for traveling merchants, particularly those specializing in rare ores and gems. They may occasionally carry Refined Moonstone for sale. Blacksmiths and alchemists in cities like Whiterun and Riften may also stock this precious material.

Once you’ve gathered enough ore, you’ll need to refine it. You can take Moonstone Ore to a forge and turn it into Refined Moonstone. After you forge Refined Moonstone, you can craft it into Elven Armor or weapons. Eleven’s armor is light but still offers good defense, so I highly recommend it.
