If you’ve been playing the new Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, you’ve no doubt at some point seen what looks like a round platform made up of wireframes. While they may look exciting, trying to jump on one will result in you just falling to your doom. So you’re probably wondering…how can you make these invisible platforms appear?

The way to get these phantom platforms to be substantial is simple — you have to collecta specific colored gem in order to be able to use them. If you look at the different wireframes, you’ll see each of them is colored differently. So in order to use the platform, you have to collect the gem that matches the platform’s wireframe in color.

These gems are scattered around the game’s different levels — and in Crash 1, colored gems require you to destroy 100% of that levels boxes, all without losing a life. The colored gem locations in Crash 1 are as follows:

  • The Green Gem is in The Lost City
  • The Orange Gem is found in the Generator Room
  • Blue can be collected in the Toxic Waste level
  • Red is located in Slippery Climb
  • Purple is in the stage Lights Out
  • Yellow is in The Lab

If you need the locations from other games in N. Sane Trilogy, check out our guides to getting all the colored gems in Crash 2 and all the colored gems in Crash 3 for the full rundown.

Once you’ve grabbed these gems, you can head back to the levels in which you saw those wireframes — and in their place will be dazzling gem platforms. These platforms will lead you to extra areas, often with a few extra boxes you’ll need to 100% the level.

Don’t worry, Crash can’t seem to figure it out either.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and help Crash add a few prized pieces to his jewelry collection. But while you’re still here, check out the rest of our Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy guides for more tips that will get you through this remastered series:
