Here's how to unlock Warfarer Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2 by completing "The Sotted Sage" quest.

Warfarer is a hybrid vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2, which has access to the Rearmamant skill, allowing you to switch weapons belonging to other vocations. In my guide, I’ll provide you with tips on how to unlock Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to Get Warfarer Vocation

To unlock the Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll have to complete “The Sotted Sage” side quest. Simply follow all the steps below, and you’ll also be able to get the Grandmaster’s Path, which is the Maister’s teaching for the Warfarer vocation in the game.

Step 1: Speak to Lamond

To initiate “The Sotted Sage” quest, you need to travel to the Agamen Volcanic Island and speak to Lamond. I spotted this NPC at the Volcanic Island Campsite, which I marked on the map below:

Lamond can teach you the Warfarer Vocation under one condition: if you bring him 3 Newt Liqueurs. This consumable causes a short burst of vigor, and it’s rather expensive.

Step 2: Obtain Newt Liqueur

The best and easiest way to obtain Newt Liqueur is to purchase it from Higg’s Tavern in Bakbattahl. But it’s not as easy as it seems at first, so be sure to follow these steps:

  1. Travel to Higg’s Tavern Stand, which is located to the north of the Flamebearer Palace.
    • If you play as Human, you’ll need to purchase the Beastren Mask first for 8700 Gold at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store in Checkpoint Rest Town.
  2. Locate a fenced area near the tavern with two sacks nearby.
  3. Take a sack and put it inside the fenced area.
  4. This will spawn some enemies that you need to defeat.
  5. Enter Higg’s Tavern and go upstairs to speak to the merchant.
  6. He’ll be ready to sell you Newt Liqueur for 5,000 Gold each.
  7. Purchase 3 Newt Liqueurs for 15,000 G.

If you think that paying 15,000 G is too much, then I highly recommend purchasing one Newt Liqueur from the Earland, who stands on the road to the south of Higg’s Tavern (see map above for the southern marker). Earland has only one such item, but he’ll sell it to you for as little as 2,000 Gold.

Lastly, I discovered that it’s also possible to brew Newt Liqueur by combining 1 Fruit Wine and 1 Saurian Tail. But fruit Wine will cost you even more, as the only person who can give it to you is Captain Brant after you purchase a house in Vernworth for at least 20,000 G.

Step 3: Return to Volcanic Island Camp

Once you have all 3 Newt Liqueurs in your possession, be sure to return to the Volcanic Island Camp and speak to Lamond. He’ll be happy to receive the consumables and will unlock the Warfarer Vocation for you. If you speak to him again a short time later, he’ll also unlock the Grandmaster’s Path teaching.

That’s it for my guide on how to unlock Warfarer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Stay tuned for more DD2 tips and tricks articles, including a romance guide & NPC options.
