LEGO Fortnite Sleep Guide: Can You Skip Night and How to Make a Bed

Want to hit the sack and get some sleep in LEGO Fortnite? Here's what you need to know about beds and skipping night.

Many survival games have a way to catch some Zs. Usually, it allows you to skip night, when many of the most difficult monsters and enemies come out to play. There are benefits of curling up in bed, but you may be wondering how to sleep in LEGO Fortnite.

Can You Sleep in LEGO Fortnite? Answered

If you’re wondering whether you can sleep in LEGO Fortnite, the answer is yes. Each survival game that I’ve played that lets players sleep handles the mechanic differently. Some let you rest through the night, while others let you regain health when hitting the sack. I never know what I’m going to get, so I was interested in how Epic’s crossover mode handled it.

How to Make a Bed in LEGO Fortnite

To sleep, you’ll need to make a bed. You won’t have access to this immediately, but all you have to do is build a Simple Shack, which you’ll be able to do as soon as you build a fire. Finish all three levels of the Simple Shack build, and the building recipe for the Bed will unlock automatically.

To access the Bed recipe, open the build menu, and go to Furniture. You’ll need x10 Wood to construct it. You can place it anywhere, but I suggest you do so inside of a Shack. You can’t use the Bed if it’s raining, so don’t place it outside. If you place the Bed incorrectly, just attack it, and it will break up into the crafting materials used to make it.

Catchin’ Some Zs: How to Sleep

To sleep, all you have to do is walk up to the bed and interact with it by pressing “E” on PC or your PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch equivalent. You’ll then need to assign the Bed to either yourself or an NPC once you build the Village Square if you want an NPC to live in your Village. Assign the Bed to yourself, and you’ll hop on it to get some rest. Strangely, there doesn’t seem to be a way to re-assign beds.

What Does Sleeping Do? Can You Skip Night?

Unfortunately, you can’t skip night when sleeping in LEGO Fortnite. Instead, sleeping restores your hearts and health, keeps your hunger meter from depleting, and sets the bed as a respawn point for when you die. If you’ve gotten more hearts and are injured down to one heart or lower, you’ll need to rest longer to fully heal.

And that’s about all I can say about sleep in LEGO Fortnite. Now you know how to make a bed and what it does. Since you also regain health by eating food, I only use beds when I want to bring an NPC into my Village. I’d love to see Epic add the functionality to skip night in future updates, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Until then, head over to our Fortnite guides hub for more on the battle royale and this block-building survival crossover.
