Where to Find Black Diamonds in Return to Moria

Black Diamonds are coveted by Orcs, and are often stolen from unsuspecting miners or Dwarves while they sleep. Even part of Durin’s Axe was whisked away in the night due to it having one of the gems in the hilt. While they collect other gems, this one holds special significance to them.

Therein lies the key to finding them. To get Black Diamonds, you’ll need to slay Orcs and Goblins for their treasure. Any Orkish Chest has a chance of holding the gem, but you need to repair the lift to the Lower Deeps and head to Orctown for a large amount of it.

Where Are Black Diamonds in Orctown?

Orctown is located in the Mines of Moria, near the Bolin camp. It’s the current location of the second Axe Fragment, so you can follow the way to the town using it. This is a fortified area, with at least four Orc camps inside. You’ll want to be prepared with the best weapons, fully repaired armor, and healing rations before deciding to take it on.

At the end of Orctown is where you’ll find the Black Diamonds. There are two full unlocked chests that contain Black Diamonds. The downside is the boss you need to fight, as well as numerous Orcs and Goblins. I found myself running around to avoid the main guy, but he actually wasn’t too hard. The hardest part was defending myself against the adds that can circle on you at once. If you can handle that, then you’re golden.

There’s a similar settlement in the Lower Deeps, as well. You always want to clear through these if you’re on the hunt for Black Diamond. Check any and all chests in Orctown to see if they contain any. Otherwise you may have to put your fast travel plans on hold.
