Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria — How to Increase Pack Space

You can run out of space quickly when starting Return to Moria, luckily there's a way to increase inventory space.

Like any other survival crafting game, Lord of the Rings Return to Moria has you gathering resources until your pockets burst, or rather until your pack has no more space. For those that like to pick up everything, here’s how to increase pack space in LotR Return to Moria.

How to Increase Pack Space in Return to Moria

When you begin the game, you’ll have the Scout’s Pack equipped. This pack has two lines of space available, which holds 10 different items, in addition to your main inventory. Between basic resources, a torch, shield, weapons, and food, this space fills up quite fast. While most things can stack up to 99, unique items and varying gems may be missed out on if you don’t have a spot free. Thankfully, you’re not stuck with this pack.

Adventurer’s Pack Components

As the game progresses, you’ll unlock the ability to build a Workbench. The crafter allows you to make bows, hats, and more complex packs. By this time, I had already unlocked the Adventurer’s Pack. To make the Adventurer’s Pack at a Workbench, you need:

  • Hide x8

The Adventurer’s Pack has a total of five lines of space, more than doubling your carry capacity. This is great as you move past the Elven Quarter into the mines as you have access to more ore spawns, different gems, and can bring rations with you. I still find myself maxing out my carry space, but it occurs far less often than with the Scout’s Pack.

Mountaineer’s Pack Components

When you reach Dwarrowdelf, you’ll find yourself gathering or crafting Fine Leather. This unlocks the final satchel you can create at the Workbench, the Mountaineer’s Pack.

It expands your carrying space to 5×8, giving you 40 inventory slots to work with. At this point, I also stopped picking up Metal Fragments, Hide Scraps, and Cloth Pieces, as I already had a ton in storage or higher quality materials were available. This gave me more room to work with in terms of inventory space, allowing me to stock up on Mithril, Sun-stone, and other rare resources.

That’s how to increase pack space in Lord of the Rings Return of Moria. You always want to save a slot for the rare item, token, or trinket as you adventure through the maze of mine tunnels that is Moria.
