The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Teal Mask DLC introduced a new evolution for Applin, Dipplin. The shiny version of Applin is based on a green apple, as are its other evolutions — Flapple and Appletun. However, Dipplin has a golden syrup surrounding it, which makes it stand out from the others. Shiny hunting the source can be hard since they only appear in trees. In this guide, we’ll go over how to catch a shiny Applin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to Catch Shiny Applin in Pokemon Scralet and Violet
While you can just walk around where Applin spawns until you encounter a shiny one, there are things you can do to help improve your odds, which are usually 1/4096. The best thing to do is to make a Shiny Dragon Sandwich, which will increase your encounter rate for both dragon and shiny Pokemon. Here’s the recipe to make one.
- 2x Avocados
- 1x Hamburger
- 1x Tomato
- 1x Onion
- 2x Any Herba Mystica
If you are a completionist and have completed the entire Paldea Pokedex, you can get the Shiny Charm by talking to Professor Jacq. This will also increase your shiny odds. Making a Shiny Drang Sandwich while having the Shiny Charm will increase your odds to 1/512. That’s a huge difference!
Where to Find Applin
Applin can be found in the Land of Kitakami in the new Teal Mask DLC. Head to Apple Hill to the east of Mossui Town and search the orchards. As mentioned before, Applin will spawn in the trees, so look closely. Defeat any Applin you come across so more will spawn in their place. Even with the reduced odds, it may still take you a while to find a shiny Applin.
If you follow tips from above you will have a much easier time finding a shiny Applin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Make sure to make a Shiny Dragon Sandwich and get the Shiny Charm to increase your odds even more. Once you get to Apple Hill, defeat any Apllin you come across that isn’t shiny so more will spawn in. For more tips and tricks, check out our guides hub.
