Remnant 2: How to Cure the Cursed Status

Curse is a nasty status effect in Remnant 2, but is fairly simple to cure. Here's how.

As you progress through Remnant 2, you’ll come across a world called Losomn, a magnificent palace with a dual nature. There are also enemies that can inflict one of the meaner status effects in the game: Curse. The effect is as sinister as it is immediate. For every stack of it you have, your HP decreases by about 10%. And unless you’ve invested heavily into your health stat or are vastly over-leveled for a particular area, the enemies can easily one or two-shot you even if you don’t have the malediction. Here’s how to cure cursed status in Remnant 2.

How to Cure Curse Status in Remnant 2

To completely prevent Curse status, make sure to get the Hex Ward ring from Nimue. Otherwise, there are four ways to cure Curse status in Remnant 2.

  • Die.
  • Rest at a checkpoint/World Stone.
  • Interact with the altars with amber liquid (represented as trees on the map).
  • Use the Purifying Salve consumable.

Method 1: Dying or Resting at a Checkpoint

The “easiest” way to cure Curse status is to die. Fun, right? You can also rest at any checkpoint. You will, of course, respawn all the enemies in either case. Checkpoints are few and far between at the best of times, so you’ll instead want to use the third option.

Method 2: Drinking Amber Liquid at Tree Altars

Scattered throughout the level are small altars with basins at their base filled with an amber liquid. Drinking the liquid immediately cures Curse status and grants a buff that prevents Curse buildup for 60 seconds. You can drink from the basin as often as you’d like to refresh the buff, but you can’t gain more than one stack, and resting at a checkpoint removes it.

Method 3: Using Purifying Salve

The fourth option to cure Curse status is to have a consumable called the Purifying Salve. You’ll find a few units of it as you explore Losomn and the rest of the game. The consumable also increases Blight resistance, but it’s a one-time use. While it clears all stacks of Curse, if you get afflicted again, you’ll need to use another.

In short, make sure you always know where one of the basins is at all times, or just, you know, don’t get Cursed. You can avoid gaining any Curse status if you successfully dodge what deals it, so I highly recommend never having any equip load higher than medium. Heavy roll is slow, costly, and doesn’t provide enough consistent invincibility frames.

That’s how to cure Curse status in Remnant 2. It’s a simple matter, but also not one you can do frequently or conveniently. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Souls-like experience if anything were truly convenient, and if you’re looking for more ways to make the experience smoother, check out our guides on how to get the Crown of the Red Prince, the best Archetypes for solo play, and more in our R2 guides hub.
