One of the most important things you can do in Resident Evil 4 remake is arm Leon with the right weapons. There are plenty of great guns to choose from, but there are guns — and then there are guns. The Handcannon, one of the most powerful weapons in the game, is the latter. Here’s how to get it.

Where to Find the Handcannon in RE4 Remake

Getting the Handcannon in Resident Evil 4 remake is no small feat. To even have a shot at unlocking the Handcannon, you’ll need to play through the game once to unlock Professional, the hardest difficulty.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to play through Professional from the beginning with a fresh save file. That means no carrying over anything you’ve unlocked on previous runs.

To make things even harder, you’re also prohibited from using any bonus weapons during your run. That means no Infinite Rocket Launcher, no Primal Knife, and no Chicago Sweeper if you’ve already unlocked them.

Do all of that and the Handcannon will show up in the bonus content shop for 1,000 CP. The asking price should be no problem, especially since you’ve played through the game at least twice already.

Handcannon Stats and Upgrades in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The Handcannon has incredible stats from the jump, but it becomes really special when fully upgraded. Obviously, you can spend money to upgrade the Handcannon’s Power, Ammo Capacity, Reload Speed, and Rate of Fire, just like any other gun.

But what really makes the Handcannon stand out is its exclusive upgrade. The Handcannon’s exclusive upgrade gives the weapon infinite ammo. It’s like having a bandanna, just in Resident Evil.

And that’s everything you need to know about unlocking the Handcannon in Resident Evil 4 remake. Getting the Handcannon is harder than getting many of RE4 remake’s other bonus weapons, but once you unlock it, it will make everything you do in the game easier, so it’s worth getting early.
